Matt Pelissier is the former drummer of the band My Chemical Romance. He helped form the band with Gerard Way, the front man of the band, in 2001, formed after the 9/11 attacks which inspired Gerard Way to start the band.

After My Chemical Romance

According to a November 2004, Alternative Press coverage of My Chemical Romance, Pelissier worked at as a mechanic back in their home state of New Jersey after being let go from the band. Pelissier states, "I was flat out told the only reason I'm being kicked out of the band because is 'We don't feel comfortable having you onstage anymore because, one, you don't play a click track and two, those couple times you messed up, we just don't feel comfortable."

Ray Toro stated that "There are obviously a lot of things that went along with [that decision] like a lack of getting along with him and a lack of being able to play songs the same way every night. But the main reason was that we weren't having fun as a band... He had to have known it in his heart-whether or not he will admit to it or not-that he wasn't performing up to the way we needed to perform. You had to have been fucking blind to not see the relationship problems between each of us and him - that we just didn't get along. When I started getting into the reasons why we made the decision, he just walked away. That was the last time I spoke to him."

Toro and the band's manager had gone together to tell Pelissier about the decision.

Pelissier still obviously disagrees with the band's decision. "I had Ray come up to me once or twice and ask me to play a click-track live, and I said no. Pretty much no drummer does because it takes away the whole live feeling thing. And that was it. I got back from Japan and Ray came to my house with Schechter. Its like your whole world comes crashing down, after I gave everything I did, everything I ever owned to make sure the band survives and this is the thanks I get."

No one spoke to Pelissier after the break-up expect for Frank Iero who called him. Afterwards, Pelissier reportdidly vandalized the trailor the band used and left signs up. Iero called him and told him to grow up and to call him when he did. According to Iero, he hasn't called yet. In the Summer of 2006, Matt Pelissier and George Collazo began Strong Arm Studios, a fully functional recording studio located in Harrison, New Jersey.

Discography

Matt has recorded two albums with My Chemical Romance: I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love, and Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge. Contrary to popular belief, Matt is the drummer heard on their second album, and appears in the original version of the video for "I'm Not Okay (I Promise)". He had gotten a tattoo of a bat on his hand while he was still in the band, which can be seen in the video. The second video of "I'm Not Okay (I Promise)", recognised as the standard video of the song, featured Bob Bryar, who had not yet been asked to be in the band.
