Expulsion of the Pocumtuks

[edit]

The Pocumtuks were NOT 'expelled by force' by the settlers of Deefield. By the time the settlers arrived in the Deerfield valley, the Pocumtuks had already been been wiped out by the Mohawks. Tpstigers 02:27, 18 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Québécois

[edit]

On February 29, 1704, during Queen Anne's War, joint French and Indian forces attacked the town in what has become known as the Deerfield Massacre. Under the command of Jean-Baptiste Hertel de Rouville were 47 Québécois and 200 Abenaki, Kanienkehaka and Wyandot, as well as a few Pocumtuck.

We cannot use Québécois since at that time french colonists called themselves canadiens, just like british colonists called themselves americans. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.210.134.132 (talk) 15:21, 29 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
