Alternative names "Fashoda complex" and "spirit of Fashoda"[edit]

The alternative term "Fashoda complex", a direct translation of the original French "complexe de Fachoda", seems to pre-date the syndrome, and be used much more than "spirit of Fashoda", a phrase coined by President Léopold Sédar Senghor of Senegal and hardly been used in print at least by anyone else.
