Suggestion
[edit]Rather than just a list of external links, it might be better to include number of beds, opening date, emergency room status, or some other information that can be used to compare hospitals in Houston.

Sources; Getting this more complete
[edit]I came here because of the COVID issues but found this page lacking. This is a mishmash of only some of the hospitals in & around Houston. Some entries are organizations with multiple facilities (HCA Houston Healthcare), many are individual facilities, at least one is not a hospital (Menninger Clinic, per license (not just name)). (I read WikiProject Hospitals as supporting listing facilities.)
To me, this irregularity of inclusion is confusing. These aren't hardware stores; they are often long-standing cornerstones of the communities. It is truly hard to find a list of hospitals in a community, with basic information, in a concise fashion.
In my opinion, non-hospitals shouldn't be listed in a list of hospitals. There are many, many clinics in Houston.
I suggest listing facilities with columns: Name, Organization (like HCA, Memorial Houston, Shriners, VA), acute beds, psych beds, city, link, notes. Because of the dominance of the Texas Medical Center, I'd suggest "city" include "Houston(TMC)" and "Houston". "note" could be for things like "Trauma level 3". I believe each of those columns helps one compare/contrast hospitals (while something like "constructed" does not) and so should be on a list page and not require the viewer to visit every hospital's Wiki page.
Houston is a city as well as a metropolitan area. The metropolitan area includes 9 counties. My inclination is that the metropolitan area ought to be included, in which case County should be a column. IMO this page should be renamed "List of hospitals in the Greater Houston". Limiting this to the city of Houston seems silly since the hospital organizations have facilities across these counties.
These are various sources that I found:
- Texas Hospital Association lists 81 hospitals in Harris County, , 5 in Galveston Co., 12 in Fort Bend Co., 17 in Montgomery Co., 6 in Brazoria Co., 3 in Liberty Co., 0 in Waller Co., 1 in Chambers Co., 1 in Austin Co.
- Texas Health & Human Services Find a license. Excel table lists 69 hospitals in Harris County (42 in Houston), 2 in Galveston Co., 12 in Fort Bend Co., 16 in Montgomery Co., 5 in Brazoria Co., 3 in Liberty Co., 0 in Waller Co., 2 in Chambers Co., 1 in Austin Co.
- Texas Health & Human Services, Dept of State Health Services 2019 Survey & Hospital list (gives acute & psych beds)
- American Hospital Directory (gives staffed beds & other info)) lists 28 hospitals in Houston (I didn't count the surrounding cities.)
I don't know the difference between the hospitals in the two lists. Perhaps all hospitals vs "general" hospitals.
