Artie Barsamian was an Armenian clarinetist and saxophonist, known as the "King of Armenian Swing"[1]. Born as Antranig Mihran Barsamian in South Boston, on August 23, 1928 to a violinist father Mihran Barsamian, he started studying clarinet and other instruments in his childhood[2]. According to his bandmate Steve Piermarini “(Artie) was very much a natural musician who had an innate sense of melody. Even in his jazz improvisation, one could hear a definite commitment to melodic phrasing, but his biggest attribute, to me, was his sound. He had a liquid tone on clarinet and sax that I’ve never heard in anyone else.’’”[1]. He died on February 22, 2012, aged 83 [1]. His song "The Enchanting Melody" is used in the TV Show "How to With John Wilson" in the second season.
