McDonalds and etc

[edit]

I removed a couple of paragraphs that were about McDonalds' ice cream machines often being broken and a lawsuit which doesn't involve this company. This material might belong on the McDonalds page. It seems tangential to this page. Polycarpa aurata (talk) 22:09, 5 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Polycarpa aurata: Mentioned it in the edit summary, but I don't quite agree. I do agree that it's a little awkward this material is here, when it really should be shared between both Taylor & McDonalds - the problem is that such an article would be too short and a violation of WP:NOTNEWS, which is why McDonald's ice cream machine was merged here. It wasn't just McDonald's actions: it was also Taylor's legal actions defending their intellectual property by suing Kytch and otherwise trying to mess with them. So I'd argue that this material is like 70% Taylor, 30% McD, so it's a better fit here if it doesn't have its own separate article. SnowFire (talk) 22:38, 5 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The page doesn't even mention legal actions by Taylor. It only talks about Kytch suing McDonalds. How is that 70% Taylor? It's 0% Taylor. As the page says, Taylor is not the only supplier of ice cream machines to McDonalds, so unless the sources are very clear about only Taylor machines being involved, this stuff doesn't belong here. I'm not even sure that a minor legal squabble about McDonalds ice cream machines belongs anywhere on WIkipedia. Polycarpa aurata (talk) 03:36, 6 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, the sources do indeed only discuss Taylor machines and mention Taylor prominently, hence it being a Taylor issue (it would be REALLY WEIRD if all machines McDonald's purchased developed phantom maintenance issues regardless of where from). I see 92 hits of "Taylor" from CTRL-Fing this Wired article, and it's specifically about a model of Taylor machine. The issue would have happened regardless of who Taylor sold it too, they just happen to have an exclusive contract with McDonalds. If Pratt & Whitney engines specially made for Boeing 777s start having maintenance problems (but GE engines made for B777s don't), this is a P&W issue more than a B777 issue.
