Citing self as a source?

How does one cite oneself as a source when the source is emails they had or conversations with someone? LouisDesyjr (talk) 04:17, 28 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi LouisDesyjr, thanks for your message. I'm not sure whether my explanation on WP:OR would be clear enough, so I'm requesting for someone else to take a look as well.
Note to helper: this is the relevant reverted edit. B732 (talk) 04:32, 28 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sometimes a thing can be true, but cannot be added to Wikipedia because there is no published source to attest to it. We often see "private communication" or similar citations in journal articles, but that kind of citation is not allowed on Wikipedia.
Second, you should not be citing anything for which you yourself are the author. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 05:19, 28 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you jmcgnh. @LouisDesyjr: please see above. B732 (talk) 17:39, 28 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism on Hurricanes Poua page

Hi B732 (talk), just like you, I've now had to revert several edits of the Hurricanes Poua page that are clear vandalism. Is there a way to protect the page for a while against these editors? Like restricting who can edit the page? I'm not sure what else to do to stop this. Ruggalicious (talk) 09:50, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Ruggalicious: thanks for your message. Yes, semi-protection can be requested for that reason, see WP:RFPP for how to request, and WP:SEMI for the policy itself. I think right now it's fine but if they come back then it might be time to put in a request. Have a good evening! B732 (talk) 10:16, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
