Oleksiy Viktorovych Kurinniy (Ukrainian: Олексій Вікторович Курінний) (born May 22, 1986 — died September 6, 2017) is Ukrainian political scientist, a lawyer, an expert on the development of the Ukrainian language, a public figure and poet. He is also known as a researcher of the Holodomor in the North Caucasus and the problems of assimilation (Slovakization) of Ukrainians and Rusyns in eastern Slovakia.

Biography

He was born in Artemivsk (now Bakhmut) in Donetsk region, where his mother was forced to move after the accident at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant. He was born in the family of Kyiv engineers. His childhood he spend in Cherkasy and Donetsk oblasts. In 2003, he graduated from the «Kyiv-Mohyla Collegium», and in 2009 he graduated from the «Kyiv-Mohyla Academy» National University, where he later worked as a senior lecturer at the Department of International Law and Special Legal Sciences of the Faculty of Legal Sciences.

Oleksiy Kurinniy died on September 6, 2017, because of an accident on the Kyiv-Kovel highway in the north of the Rivne region. With colleagues, he was returning from Poland, from a conference on countermeasures Russian hybrid information aggression.
