Contested deletion - dead earth politics

[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... The information and sources provided indicate this band's long standing presence in the music and metal scene in Austin as well as Texas. This is seen with their notes about festival appearances as well associations with larger entities such as GWAR and DOWN. Additionally, the band is a three time recipient of the Best Performing Metal Act award at the SXSW affiliated Austin Music Awards. The first year having received the award they beat international Austin origin act "The Sword" (they held this award for four years prior). Awards are being added to the page shortly along with sources for said achievements. --Jocelynhippieheathcoach (talk) 18:46, 20 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The festival appearances are enough that I"m declining the request for speedy deletion. If the band is not notable, that needs to be decided after discussion through the WP:Articles for deletion process. —C.Fred (talk) 18:56, 20 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Well, did it go to AFD? This sure looks like a self-published band. There are many touring bands, many with awards, many with followings, but WP:BAND (or is it MUSIC?) has a series of steps that go beyond merely these standards. If it ain't a speedy, it's an AFD. If it got considered and kept, then oughtn't there be an indication on the talk page so that no one is tempted to list it again? Hithladaeus (talk) 19:24, 29 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
What are the next steps I must take in order to argue notability? I have added awards as well as tours (all sourced with the tours even including video links related to each show). Just wanting to make sure i get this right! --Jocelynhippieheathcoach (talk) 19:31, 20 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion

[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... It looks like this was flagged for the main photo. This is a photo by and from the original photographer. I thought that would be acceptable to use and will remove it ASAP pending permission directly from the photographer or any permission from the band. --Jocelynhippieheathcoach (talk) 18:49, 20 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
