The 2024 Reasi attack was a terrorist attack on Hindu pilgrims that occurred on 9 June 2024, Terrorists ambushed a bus transporting Hindu pilgrims from the Shiv Khori cave to Katra, Reasi,[1] causing it to crash. Nine people are confirmed to have been killed in the attack, and an additional 33 were injured.[2]

Attack

At approximately 6:10 p.m. on 9 June, militants armed with firearms ambushed a 53-seater passenger bus carrying Hindu pilgrims in Teryath village, shooting indiscriminately. The driver was struck by gunfire, causing them to lose control and slide into a gorge.[3] Nine people were killed and 33 were injured.[4] A number of the victims had gunshot wounds, and empty cartridges were recovered at the scene.[5][6] No group has yet been found responsible, but local police suspect this attack may have been orchestrated by Islamic extremists who have conducted similar terrorist attacks against Hindus as part of a terror campaign in Jammu and Kashmir.[4][2]

A search and rescue operation was conducted following the attack, during which security personnel and a military helicopter were dispatched.[7][8] Survivors were treated at nearby hospitals, and police launched a manhunt for the attackers.[9]
