Yuli Daniel story
Soviet author Yuli Daniel published a story titled Говорит Москва in 1962 in which the Soviet Union declares a day on which murder is legal. Is there any relationship to this movie or is it just a coincidence? --2.53.165.253 (talk) 02:09, 9 July 2022 (UTC)
Continunity errors
I've been hearing alot of stuff that says election year is set in the year 2025 yet that doesn't make any sense because didn't the NFFA came into power in 2014 than creating the Purge which started in 2017 or 2018 whichever? In Election Year from what I have heard the NFFA has been in power for over 25 years, well if it's set two years after Anarchy that would be 2025, so your telling me now that the NFFA has been in power since 2000? How does that make sense, either people are writing this baloney or the writers of the movie can't tell time, it doesn't make any sense, I've read some of the plot for Election Year and it says the prologue is in 2021, the main events take place in 2040 which if you do the math correctly, it's 19 years later. Overthrow or elected?
The plot states "...overthrows the government, and is voted into office". So was the standing gov't overthrown or was it defeat by election? They're pretty exclusive... Jyg (talk) 16:57, 28 July 2018 (UTC)
- As I am to understand it, the films say the same thing. Some clarification as to what this actually means would be nice but it seems the films themselves say it too. Zeke, the Mad Horrorist (Speak quickly) (Follow my trail) 03:33, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
Development section
Having a section in which the origins of the franchise are explored would be nice, plus we could move the Star Trek episode that influenced the series into that section (and out of the See also section). Zeke, the Mad Horrorist (Speak quickly) (Follow my trail) 03:34, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
Profanity on main section
The last sentence in the last paragraph in the main section contains profanity. Additionally, the gross income of the franchise isn't correct. Shannonxtreme (talk) 00:21, 8 September 2020 (UTC)
The day of the red giant
The idea behind the movie seems to be almost identical to the 1982 Polish sf book "The day of the red giant", where also once in a year it becomes legal to commit any crime, including murder. Shouldn't it be mentioned?
- If you can find reliable third party sourced to back it up, sure. Chaheel Riens (talk) 09:29, 31 July 2021 (UTC)
Timeline section overly detailed?
Is it really necessary to have the exact seat count of every Canadian election and the fact that the summer olympics were in Toronto in 2036 or whatever? Shcmilly (talk) 16:22, 17 June 2024 (UTC)
