Watson split

I think its time this section was split into two separate pages.

  • Watson-class (P&S) lifeboats
  • Watson-class (motor) lifeboats

Not sure I dare do this.

Any addition or correction I make gets instantly re-edited, even though there are plenty of other corrections needed, which get ignored.

And you wonder why I take it personally!

I have been pondering the same thing myself while I have been expanding and editing the page. It would mean that all the pages that were created by @Ambak51: for the different lengths would need to be merged back into the new motor lifeboats page.
Wiki naming policy for disambiguating titles and avoiding acronyms would require:
  • Watson-class pulling and sailing lifeboat
  • Watson-class motor lifeboat

Don't see why it would all need remerging.
Separate off Pulling and Sailing.
And create a list page like we have for RNLI stations, for all the different motor pages.

It doesn't seem to make sense that this page should have two of the lists but readers have to go elsewhere to find the details of others. If I want to find out a bout Watson-class RNLB Charles Henry Ashley, which page do I go to?.
If there really is a need to split the motor lifeboats into smaller pages then I think we should take a step back and consider how the different designs relate. Is it that there are just three, each produced with two or more lengths?
  • Single-engine petrol lifeboats
  • Twin-engine petrol lifeboats
  • Diesel-engined lifeboats
Fewer pages; similar designs and build dates are grouped together; less confusion. Geof Sheppard (talk) 13:11, 18 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There's already a Liver-class P&S lifeboat page
So no reason why we can't have a Watson-class P&S lifeboat page
Lets split that off, and then we can review whats left.
