Gia Walsh (producer)

Gia Walsh (née Laspagnoletta; born December 8, 1967) is an American film producer[1]and co- founder of New York City based production company, GiGi Films. Raised in Bronxville NY, [2]she graduated from Mahattanville University in 1989. Under Walsh's supervision, GiGi Films produced several award-winning films. In 2022 'Zola' [3]earned seven nominations at the Independent Spirit Awards.[4][5][6] ‘Zola’ won The Creative Impact Award at the Palm Springs international Film Festival,[7] The Black Critics Film Circle Award[8] and the 2021 Women Film Critic Circle Award.[9] Walsh's guidance at GiGi Films brought the film '11:55' to the screen. In 2016 '11:55' won The Aspen Film Festival Audience Award[10] and the 2017 Altered States Audience Award at The River Run Film Festival.[11] Walsh produced 'American Murderer' in 2020[12][13] which received The Artistic Directors Award in 2022 at The San Diego Film Festival.[14] ‘Allswell’, also produced by Walsh, won Best Screenplay in a US Narrative Feature at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2022.[15]

Walsh’s filmography includes;'The Winning Season'(2009),[16] 'The Art of Getting By'[17] [18](2011), 'Sweets '(2015), 'Burn Country' (2016),[19] '11:55 '(2016)[20], 'Girl Friends' (2017), 'Zola'(film)(2020)[21][22], 'Allswell' in New York (2022)[23]’American Murderer' (2022)[24] and 'Cabin Girl' (2023)[25]. ‘Allswell’ debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2022[26] 'The Winning Season' starring Sam Rockwell and Emma Roberts, Walsh's [27]first film as a producer, premiered at The Sundance Film Festival in 2009.[28] GiGi Films ‘Zola’ premiered at The Sundance Fill Festival in 2020[29].
