Minimal extent of use. An entire work is not used if a portion will suffice. Low- rather than high-resolution/fidelity/bit rate is used (especially where the original could be used for deliberate copyright infringement). This rule also applies to the copy in the File: namespace.

- As explained in the rationale, the resolution of this comic strip has been reduced to .2 megapixels (& uses a limited 8bit palette) from the web-resolution original file. This resolution is clearly unfit for commercial reproduction. So, what's the problem? ˉˉanetode╦╩ 20:53, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
- It still conflicts with the original image, as anyone who reads this no longer needs to read the original. A common way to avoid this problem with comic strips is to obey the part of NFCC that says "an entire work is not used if a portion will suffice" - the entire comic doesn't need to be shown.
