Byblos Bank Armenia CJSC is an Armenian bank headquartered in Yerevan, Armenia, offering corporate and retail banking services at four branches across Yerevan[1][2]. The Bank is a wholly owned subsidiary of Byblos Bank S.A.L.[3] It is one of 18 banks in Armenia supervised by the country’s Central Bank.[4]

History

Founded in December 2007, Byblos Bank Armenia CJSC is the outcome of a 100% stake acquisition of the International Trade Bank in Armenia by Byblos Bank S.A.L.[5]

Byblos Bank Armenia began operations with one branch in early 2008, then went on to open three more in 2012[6][7], 2020[8] and 2021.[9]

In 2008, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) bought 25% and 10% of the charter capital of Byblos Bank Armenia, respectively.[10]

By the end of 2016, Byblos Bank S.A.L. had acquired all of EBRD and OFID’s shares in Byblos Bank Armenia’s charter capital (262,491 shares in total).[11]

In 2022, Byblos Bank Armenia won the Premium Card Portfolio Launch award by Mastercard for its extensive marketing campaign introducing the premium World Elite Mastercard.[12]

Activity

The core business activity of the Bank includes the attraction of deposits, customer account maintenance, consumer and corporate lending, cash and settlement transactions and operations with securities and foreign exchange.[13]

Charter Capital

The charter capital of the Bank makes up 26,249,100,000 (twenty six billion two hundred forty-nine million one hundred thousand) Armenian drams.[14]

The Bank’s charter capital consists of 262,491 (two hundred sixty two thousand four hundred and ninety-one) ordinary registered shares, each with a par value of 100,000 (one hundred thousand) Armenian drams.[15]
