On July 31, 2024, the Red Sox promoted Sogard to the major leagues.[3]

Personal life

Sogard's cousins Eric and Alex both played professional baseball. Eric was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 2nd round of the 2007 MLB draft, and played in the major leagues from 2010 to 2021. Alex was drafted by the Houston Astros in the 26th round of the 2010 MLB draft, but never reached the majors and retired following the 2015 campaign.[4]

Sogard is also a nephew of former major league players Steve Sax and Dave Sax. Steve was a five–time All–Star, two–time World Series champion, and the 1982 NL Rookie of the Year, and played from 1981 to 1994. Dave saw brief action for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Boston Red Sox from 1982 to 1987.[5]
