Kisaki

KISAKI (妃) is a Japanese musician known for being a member of numerous bands including La:Sadie’s, Syndrome, KISAKI PROJECT and Phantasmagoria. He plays bass guitar and composes music. Kisaki was the producer for the Matina record label before becoming producer of Undercode Productions. In 2007, he was charged with tax evasion of over 45,000,000 yen worth of taxes. It is suspected currently that Kisaki will soon be retiring as a musician, and this idea is supported by Phantasmagoria’s title as “Kisaki’s final band.”

Background

Kisaki played the flute in primary school. He chose to focus on playing instruments and learned bass as well as guitar. Beginning during his later education, Kisaki began to participate in bands. Playing in a band became his focus rather than his studies.

La:Sadie’s, which consisted of most of the members of Dir en grey with Kisaki on bass, was formed in January of 1996. In January of the next year, Kisaki became bassist of MIRAGE. His next band, Syndrome, was formed in 2000. Phantasmagoria, also called “Kisaki’s final band,” was formed in December of 2004 and is currently on hold.

In November 1997, Kisaki became Producer of Matina. He became producer of Undercode Productions when it was established in March 2003.

Current Status

Recently, in a special message from Phantasmagoria, Kisaki has announced that the band is on hold and pausing activities. He has also stated that after a final live performance in 2007, he will not be appearing on stage again. Phantasmagoria’s title as “Kisaki’s final band” supports the idea that he is going to retire as a musician.
