PRIDE Bushido 9 was a mixed martial arts event held by PRIDE Fighting Championships. This event held the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds of the first ever Welterweight tournament and Lightweight tournament. It took place at the Ariake Coliseum in Tokyo, Japan on September 25, 2005. Under BUSHIDO rules, matches are 2 rounds only. It is considered by many fans and critics to be one of the most entertaining MMA events ever held. The finals for the welterweight tournament as well as the lightweight tournament was held at Shockwave 2005 later that year on new year's eve.

Welterweight Tournament Opening Round:

Paulo Filho defeats Ryuta Sakurai by armbar at 3:49 of Round 1.


Akihiro Gono defeats Daniel Acacio by unanimous decision.

Dan Henderson defeats Ryo Chonan by knockout at 0:22 of Round 1.

Ikuhisa Minowa defeats Phil Baroni by unanimous decision.

Murlilo Bustamante defeats Masanori Suda by armbar at 3:20 of Round 1.


Lightweight Tournament Opening Round:

Dokonjonosuke Mishima defeats Charles Bennett by ankle lock at 4:04 of Round 1.


Hayato Sakurai defeats Jens Pulver by TKO at 8:56 of Round 1.

Joachim Hansen defeats Yves Edwards by split decision.

Takanori Gomi defeats Tatsuya Kawajiri by rear naked choke at 7:42 of Round 1.

Luiz Azeredo defeats Naoyuki Kotani by knockout at :11 of Round 1.


Welterweight Tournament Semi-Finals:

Dan Henderson defeats Akihiro Gono by knockout at 7:58 of Round 1.

Murlilo Bustamante defeats Ikuhisa Minowa by TKO due to soccer kicks at 9:51 of Round 1. Bustamante will face Dan Henderson in the finals at PRIDE Shockwave 2005.


Lightweight Tournament Semi-Finals:

Hayato Sakurai defeats Joachim Hansen by unanimous decision.

Takanori Gomi defeats Luiz Azeredo by unanimous decision. Takanori Gomi will face Hayato Sakurai in the finals at PRIDE Shockwave 2005.
