100-word list for Oriya

Good day! Could you help me and provide translations for the following 100 basic word in the Oriya language. Either in the standard Oriya or in your native local variety (dialect) which you speak better (and then indicate please how you call your language /dialect and precise location like state –district – town/village). If there are synonyms or known dialectal variants provide them with comments if possible. Also please indicate if you know that certain words are borrowing. You can fill in right here using either IPA transcription or some other spelling you like (just describe your conventions). Thank you in advance! --Koryakov Yuri 15:13, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

Full list truncated for performance/aesthetic reasons; available here.

  • Hi... thanks for your notice. Certainly I would love to help out if I can. I must point out, however, that my ability to write in my parents' native language is not as great as my ability to speak it... that and I have a greater lack of confidence in my ability to write it on a computer using Unicode. Nonetheless, I can certainly try to provide some IPA or other standard transcriptions for you soon. I'll be sure to let you know if/when I can get around to this... as the tag says, I'm busy in real life, but I am happy to help! --Kinu t/c 04:22, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
Thank for answering. Certainly I need words not in original Oriya script but in Roman letters and spelling must not reflect pronounciation strictly. Just usual Latin letters, two vowels for long one and other simplifications are quite welcome. --Koryakov Yuri 08:26, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

Thank you:

Thank you for reverting the recent vandalism on my userpage! It's greatly appreciated! (also, please note that the user HAS been reported to the administrators) --HAL2008 talk Contributions 04:03, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

Humorous note... I realized you were a sysop right after I wrote this... I figured I should tell you, just because it's kinda funny. --HAL2008 talk Contributions 01:43, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

Help request: The Academy Is...

Hi Kinu. Could I ask for your assistance at The Academy Is... ? An anon IP is trying to do the same thing to the article that Talktotai was doing last night. It is not technically vandalism, however.... Thanks, --Paul Erik 04:08, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

  • Since it looks to be the same editor, based on the edit pattern, etc., I've gone ahead and blocked the IP temporarily, on the grounds that it is likely the user evading the block by editing anonymously. I'll keep an eye on the page as well, to see if there are any other shenanigans going on. Thanks for letting me know! --Kinu t/c 04:37, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

I would like swift action against this person

  • This appears to be trolling of some sort by an IP whose edits are rightfully under severe scrutiny. I won't dignify it with a response. I am leaving this note as a courtesy to the registered user who has legitimately posted here in his own defense. To him: I am aware of the situation with this IP and will keep an eye on it in the near future; thank you for responding. --Kinu t/c 04:57, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the revert on my User Talk Page

Yeah, I was just going to remove that remarkably meaningless comment anyway, but thanks. :O) FlowerpotmaN·(t) 02:59, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

Help

I have a problem with another wikipedian. "User talk:137.240.136.81". I guess it all started when I left a warning on his/her talk page in March 2007 because he/she vandalized a page. Last week, he/she posted the following message on my talk page : "It's a great day for correcting spelling and fixing grammer errors on wikipedia!!!" to provoke me, I guess. so, I responded. Then, he/she posted "who is this? Why are you leaving slander on my talk page?" on my talk page. So I left a warning message on his/her talk page. And now, it seems there's another wikipedian "User talk:137.240.136.80" (same person I guess) vandalized my talk page and left me a warning. This same user removed the messages I posted on 137.240.136.81's talk page. Please, help me! I don't know what to do.--NeptunianDroid 21:02, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

Simpsons vandal

Kinu, is there anything we can do about this guy? We've been reverting his edits for a month now. As mentioned in the abuse report, he shows up every couple of days from a different British Telecom IP address. It's getting tiring having to chase down his edits on such a regular basis. Most recently he's been coming in from 2-3 different addresses in a single day. The only action I've seen on the abuse report is a comment from another admin saying there's nothing we can do but keep chasing after him and banning IP addresses. -FeralDruid 21:27, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

  • Yeah, I know it's a pain, but off the top of my head, I can't think of any long-term solution that would be viable. Block and ignore works, but it requires human intervention to do it, which leaves the door open for significant vandalism before anyone catches them. Someone could write a bot script to watch for BT addresses editing particular pages (Simpsons ones), but even that has the potential of flagging a false positive. I figure they'll eventually get bored and go away, but until then, we just have to be on our toes... --Kinu t/c 15:36, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

Deletion of Men's Octet Page

Hi Kinu, you recently deleted my UC men's octet page for a copyright violation. I apologize for taking sentences from the group's website to describe them and their history. I didn't know that was a violation. Is it okay to redo the page and I'll be very careful this time to not take stuff from their website? Jpupperoni 06:55, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

Thank You! Jpupperoni 16:34, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

Hi Kinu, sorry to keep bugging you, but I was making the Men's Octet page. I wanted to ask you about posting images of albums that the group has made. I have all of the albums and I scanned the cover art myself. But I know that they're copyrighted images because they say so. Is there any way I can post the pictures of them next to the album titles on the page? An example of what I mean is like what the author of the Stanford Harmonics page did. Thank you! An editor has asked for a deletion review of Dunewood. Since you closed the deletion discussion for this article or speedy-deleted it, you might want to participate in the deletion review. --W.marsh 23:32, 15 July 2007 (UTC)

I saw your warning just after I blocked him. He'd uploaded an 8Mb pdf, so it seemed best to stop him in his tracks, and he can request an unblock if he wants to contribute. --Steve (Stephen) talk 03:56, 16 July 2007 (UTC)

How do internet works - about wicki hacking and criminal blocking of user:Ttturbo

Kinu doesn't study even this about GRU activities. Internet is the great network of powerfull computers - "servers", connected to lots of personal and to other "servers" having necessary software for correct information interchange. Information interchage is performing using information packages. Servers and even PC usually has their own security codes. Hackers sometimes are lucky to break those codes and they (or professional engineers workoing at servers) makes troubles even for Pentagon or Estonian sites - Estonia suffered russian hackers attack on April- May this year and there was discussion in NATO how to evaluate these attacks. There is possible even some foolishment by professional hackers intercepting at server some packages of comunication, changing their content and trying to make a quarrel among different users. Even some proffessors of medicine, having NO UNDERSTANDING, attacked wiki user Ttturbo who published lots of materials about Red Army crimes (now he is blocked forever and his articles destroyed by slavian and prorussian users and admins}. Please, read more about internet, study situation - hacking in the russian style was detected on Lithuania wiki pages too. Miranda does everything to hide comitted crime - ilegal hacking of wikipedia. She is even is trying to hide text from user talk page of Ttturbo and made some falsifications. User Ttturbo didn't make any promisses about pushing of his POW etc. and he only said, he doesn't want to break the rules becouse he can't accuse himself in pushing he never made. If You are for justice please study situation seriously - Ttturbo is a victim of illegal hacking, provocations and needs yours understanding of situation around Red Army crimes description. ADMIN RENATA3 feels herself and is responsible for Lithuania related articles but she tolerated for a long time it's falsificated version not containing the most dramatic period of Lithuania history - 1944 - 1952 when more than 20 thousand of Lithuania freedom fighters -partisans were killed by Red Army and their supporters.
