Morning Rush is a weekday morning radio show of Monster Radio RX 93.1 and is hosted by Chico Garcia and Delamar.

The show has a cult following of listeners, who call themselves "Rushers". Rushers would usually tune in to the show while on their way to work or school. The show was first aired on Monster Radio in 1996 and was moved to 93.9 KCFM in 1998, and then went back to Monster Radio in 2002.

Background

During the 3 hour-stretch, listeners would submit their entries via SMS. The DJs would then pick the best entries and announce the bottom half starting at around 6:20 and the top half starting at around 6:50. The whole show would have three batches of top ten lists. The Saturday show is a little different, with listeners calling in over the phone to give their entry.

Its main feature is the Top Ten (formerly Hot Ten). The DJs would pick a topic for the day and announce it at the start of the show. (Chico would usually choose everyday except Wednesday, when Delle would choose the topic) DJs would choose from topics suggested by listeners or occasionally come up with their own topic.

In 2005, the show had two new members: Brad Turvey and Sarah. Brad Turvey joins every Mondays and Wednesdays while Sarah joins in between those days.

Popularity

The show is distinctly funny thanks to the humorous way the DJs go through the top ten. The DJs would regularly get SMS from listeners who would tell them that people would look at them like they were crazy when they are listening to the show. One particular case was when the listener was in her car alone and driving to work, and people were staring at her because they would see her laughing by herself . Another case would be a student listening to the show on his mobile phone, commuting on a jeepney, and couldn't help himself laughing out loud, to the surprise and curiosity of his fellow commuters. A third case would be a commuter on an MRT train listening to the show on his mp3 player, and grinning widely, trying not to laugh out loud, while people would be staring at them, wondering why the silly grin.
