Samuel Dylan Murray Preston (born 16 January 1982), more commonly known as Preston, is the lead singer of The Ordinary Boys; an English indie rock band.

Background

Samuel Preston was born in Worthing, West Sussex. He was educated at Sompting Abbotts School and Bishop Luffa School.

Celebrity Big Brother

In January 2006, Preston appeared on Channel 4's Celebrity Big Brother programme. He was evicted during the finale episode on 27 January 2006, finishing in fourth place. Preston married Celebrity Big Brother 2006 winner Chantelle Houghton on 25 August 2006, having become engaged in April 2006. On 27 June 2007, Preston and Houghton announced their separation.[1]

Never Mind The Buzzcocks

In 2006, Preston appeared on BBC Two's comedy panel game show Never Mind The Buzzcocks. The show's host Simon Amstell jokingly claimed that going on television to find love - as Preston had done on Celebrity Big Brother - was "desperate". Preston didn't seem to find the joke humorous, inviting more of Amstell's sarcastic comments, including a mention of the lack of tracks on his Ordinary Boys album that Preston had written himself. Amstell then mockingly read an extract from the autobiography of Preston's then-wife, Chantelle Houghton, prompting the singer to walk out of the studio and off the show. Following Preston's exit, panelist Bill Bailey said: "I bet he thought he'd been voted out".
