Don't Say a Word is a 2001 psychological thriller based on the novel of the same title by Andrew Klavan. The film tells the story of psychiatrist Dr. Nathan R. Conrad (Michael Douglas) whose wife (Skye McCole Bartusiak) and daughter (Famke Janssen) are held hostage, while he must unlock the key to a hidden fortune, locked away in the memory of a young mental patient (Brittany Murphy). Don't Say a Word was directed by Gary Fleder and written by Anthony Peckham and Patrick Smith Kelly.
The film was released worldwide into 2,842 cinemas on September 18, 2001.[1] The DVD hit the US market first on February 19, 2002[2] and later on July 19, 2004[3] almost 3 years after the cinema release.
Cast and characters
- Brittany Murphy - Elisabeth Burrows
Elisabeth Burrows is scared to talk to anyone about her past, but eventually opens up to Dr. Nathan Conrad. She's seen muttering to herself "I'll never tell" which became the tagline for the film. Her memory is extraordinary, but a close guarded secret. - Isabella Fink - Elisabeth Burrows (aged 13)

Nathan Conrad is a well respected psychiatrist, and has to gain the trust of mental patient Elisabeth Burrows. Throughout the film he is constantly on edge, but has a level head when it matters. - Skye McCole Bartusiak - Jessie Conrad
Jessie Conrad (wife to Nathan Conrad) has quite a significant role in the film. She and her daughter are taken hostage while Nathan tried to uncover the mystery. She tries everything whilst they are captured, but her attempts fail. - Famke Janssen - Aggie Conrad
Aggie Conrad (daughter of Nathan and Jessie Conrad) is an intelligent young girl. She, like her mother, tries various methods of giving signal that they have been taken hostage, but when the takers find out, her security is only strengthened. - Sean Bean - Patrick Koster
Patrick Koster is the boss in finding the hidden fortune. He makes the decisions and is a very threatening character. One moment in the film, he's seen threatening Jessie Conrad in her own home. - Jennifer Esposito - Det. Sandra Cassidy

The films musical score was composed by Mark Isham. The soundtrack contains eight songs from various scene including; the Heist, the Kidnapping and the horrific events at the Subway.[4]
