Maximum Ride is a teen book series written by the award-winning American author, James Patterson, starting from April 11, 2005 and continuing to the present. There are currently three titles in the action-adventure/fantasy series, with an upcoming fourth being written for an April, 2008 release, entitled: Maximum Ride: The Last Global Warming Warning.[2]

Each of the novels in the series have reached #1, in the New York Times Best Seller list.[3][citation needed]

Premise

The main plot follows the adventures of Maximum Ride and her group of avian-human hybrids (known as the Flock), whom have been experimented on[4], leaving them only 98% human, and 2% bird.[5] The Flock are constantly being hunted down by Erasers, another Scientific experiment which took place at the School - the Flock's worst nightmare.[5]

When one of the 'family' is kidnapped, the others are right behind, hoping to save her before more experiments are conducted. The adventure takes them all over the world, from California[6] and New York[7] in the first novel, to Europe[8] in the third.

In the latest novel, Max must save the world from the Re-Evolution[9], an mission from an organisation that wants to control the world. With the help of 'The Voice', Max must find a way to complete the task before its too late.
