Scope of this article

It's been a while since I read Jack the Bodiless, but isn't this article more a summary of the whole Galactic Milieu series than just the one novel? Would it be better to treat it as such and rename it "Galactic Milieu Series" and expand? · rodii · 14:23, 23 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I agree to that too. Would you add Intervention as part of this too? · Solapse ·

I'm gonna go with that unless anyone objects. · rodii · 01:50, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK, done. I made a first stab at a rewrite and expansion, but it needs help! Please pitch in. · rodii · 02:34, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've added a load more although Rodii, you might want to edit it a bit as i had to try and fit it around what you've written. Needs a lot more on Diamond mask and explaining the Hydra Fury stuff. · Solapse ·

Intervention--one novel or two?

One. I have a copy of the initial hardcover release right here. When it was released as a mass market paperback a year later it was split into two volumes for marketing reasons, but that doesn't mean it's two novels. Neither half really stands on its own structurally as a story, unlike the other milieu novels. (I think you could argue that the third and fourth volumes of the Pleistocene Exile series should actually be thought of as one novel also, but they fact is they were originally published as two separate novels, unlike Intervention. · rodii · 01:50, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm slightly confused about whether this is, indeed, a single novel or not. I suspect that [1] is a single-volume paperback of "Intervention", but since every bibliography I can find indicates that the paperback version of "Intervention" is split into two volumes, I'm not honestly certain... I have a single-volume paperback copy of Intervention right here, so it certainly exists. I think the reason that many bibliographies don't mention it is because they only include American editions. (The copy I have was printed in Great Britain.) --Zundark 18:46, 18 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That's the version I have that I bought from Amazon second hand - also a uk edition · Solapse ·</b

More information?

Since this is about the series as a whole, would it make sense to also add in details regarding the events of each book? Plot synopses, information about the metapowers, identifying the Milieu races, the role of the Lylmik, the history behind Atoning Unifex? Mohsin.Siddiqui 13:23, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Absolutely! This needs expansion. Some of what you discuss is already in the Pliocene exile artile, and I think we should be careful not to turn this into fancruft. I'd start with a plot summary--maybe one paragraph per book?--and see what develops. Please edit away! (Don't forget spolier notices.) · rodii · 13:47, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Basically, lets get all the data down, the rough story etc and then we can pretty-fy it :-D and then split into books etc. Ive made a bit of a start. · Solapse ·

Further more, could do with some proper information on the 'Family ghost' & Atoning Unifex. Perhaps a protagonist/Antagonist section outlining each character. Same could be done for the Alien species · Solapse ·

I went ahead and split the article book by book. It looked like one big chunk of text to me... I guess we should add a general section, with at least a mention of the different aliens and the structure of the Milieu. -- Bakabaka 15:07, 7 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Great work Bakabaka, i'm going to keep putting stuff down over time to do with the story, if someone could shorten it and edit it a bit, that'd be great. Its hard to shorten, what with the multiple facets e.g. the whole fury/hydra side, the metapsychic rebellion and explaining both! · Solapse ·

English terms?

I am trying to come up with a proper introduction for this article, detailing the different races in the Milieu and a short definition of the different metafaculties. I have read the series in Dutch, however, and am having problems with the powers' names as Ms. May has given them. I can come up with 'creativity', 'healing', 'redaction', 'psychokinetics' ('PK'), and 'farsensing'. Am I missing one? Any help would be appreciated! -- Bakabaka 15:22, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You are indeed missing one. Redaction, in most uses is healing (both mental, and to boost physical healing, or at least control pain during physical healing). The missing one is coercion (or mind-control), which is closely related to Redaction, but used in a far more forceful, atagonistic manner. 161.73.211.20 13:32, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
