Ian Spencer Goodrum (born September 11, 1989) is an American actor, singer, politician, and college hopeful. Currently attending high school, he has high ideals and will do whatever it takes to see them achieved.

Biography

Early life

Goodrum was born in Houston, TX to Janice Goodrum, a single mother and small business owner. He lived in Freeport for 13 years before moving to Clute in 2002.

High school career

Goodrum began secondary school in the fall of 2004 at Brazoswood High School. Once there, he participated in a number of organizations, including JSA, the Thespian Society, the choir, and the school's debate team while still maintaning a focus on academics. During his time at Brazoswood, Goodrum cultivated friendships and experiences that will last him a lifetime, things far more meaningful to him than a set of numbers.

Goodrum was elected President of the Brazoswood Chapter of JSA in Fall 2007.

Problems

Like everyone else, Goodrum was no stranger to adversity, although comparatively speaking, the Scientologists have had it harder. Having gone to a middle school with a student population that ostracized students that performed well, Goodrum intentionally made poor grades as a way of fitting in. By freshman year of high school, the problem would be solved by a more stimulating learning environment. A relic of that tumultuous time, however, remained in the form of a troublesome compulsion: a habit of biting his nails and flesh around the fingertips.

Hopes and desires

Goodrum, having been interested in politics since a 4th-grade report on John F. Kennedy, wishes to ultimately enter public service to right the wrongs inflicted by previous "statesmen". His political stance is one constantly under fire, due to his native Brazoria County being a typically conservative region of the country. Despite this, Goodrum has been effective in promoting greater political awareness among the student body, leading a Junior State chapter numbering nearly 30 students, an above average number for the Texas state. This is especially distinctive, considering that in preceding years, membership numbered in the single digits. Goodrum received a special commendation from the Texas JSA Governor for his work.

Personality "quirks"

Goodrum is known for his love of show tunes, despite being a heterosexual. A product of his being raised on old musicals, his affinity toward such songs also led to his hopeless romanticism. This romanticism extends not only toward his personal life, but most likely contributed to the idealized vision he holds of his future. He also has an unusual sense of humor, relying on puns and wordplay to make others laugh. Oftentimes, this style leads to many pronounced and awkward silences, but the vaudevillian persona calls to him in undeniable ways. His desire to entertain takes many forms. At one point, during the rehearsal of a Shakespeare play, an actress was unable to make her entrance. After a moment of decision-making, Goodrum walked on the stage and immediately got into her character, saying the lines meant for her without a seconds hesitation. Although it was a rehearsal, the theater was filled with raucous laughter from every actor in the room. Without falsetto, without stereotypical mannerisms, Goodrum used deadpan and proper movements to portray the female character and simply create the humor inherent in the scene. The thrill of getting a group of his peers to laugh and applaud was, to Goodrum, hundreds of times more meaningful than producing the same result in a full house of regular audience members. The many different facets of Goodrum's personality combine to create a unique and capable individual for whom nearly anything is possible, if given the right tools.
