Wikipedia:WikiProject Professional wrestling/Collaboration
Each week a professional wrestling collaboration of the week topic will be picked using this page. This is a specific professional wrestling-related topic which initially either has no article, has only a basic stub-like page, is in need of more information or needs to be thoroughly sourced & copyedited to make it a Good Article candidate. The aim of this project is to improve the quality of Wikipedia's pro wrestling related articles through widespread cooperative editing. It is our hope that some of these will go on to become featured articles. For general discussion of the tasks of WikiProject Professional wrestling please see the Project's Talk Page. Any registered user can nominate an article and can vote for any number of the nominated articles. Every Sunday, the votes are tallied, and the winner will be promoted for a week to potential contributors.
Previous collaborations can be found at /History.
Removed nominations can be found at /Removed.
Templates
When a page is selected to be the "professional wrestling collaboration of the week" it's talk page will be tagged with {{Current-PWCOTW}}:
This is the current professional wrestling collaboration of the week! Please help to improve it to match the quality of an ideal Wikipedia professional wrestling article. |
Former collaborations are tagged on their talk page with {{Current-PWCOTW|Former|Start date|End date}}. For example:
This article was the professional wrestling collaboration of the week between April 23 and April 29 2007 Please help to continue to improve it to match the quality of an ideal Wikipedia professional wrestling article. |
Project participants are notified with {{Pwcotw notice}} on their user talk pages. Template:Pwcotw notice
The opt out list for the weekly notice is Wikipedia:WikiProject Professional wrestling/Collaboration of the week/Nospam.
The monthly featured article collaboration
Additionally, one week out of every month will be devoted to expanding one of the project's Good Articles in hopes of making it reach Featured Article status. This collaboration will be different from all of the others, as rather than simply focusing on expansion and copy-editing, this will show much more attention to detail, as the goal is to make sure the article passes all of the featured article criteria. The reason for this monthly drive is to make sure this project produces featured articles at a relatively constant rate.
Selecting the next PW collaboration of the week
Considerations for nominations
- Giving reasons why an article should become the PWCOTW may convince others to support your nomination.
- Can the wider pro wrestling community easily contribute to the article? Or is it something only a small number of people will know about?
- Is the article a stub or very small?
- A good place to look for articles that might be worthy of a nomination are the professional wrestling stubs and professional wrestling bio stubs.
- If you are looking to nominate an article for the FACOTW, then look at the list of Good Articles on the project's main page.
- Consider re-nominating a past candidate for COTW which had strong support but didn't quite make the cut.

Voting
A vote or a show of support for an article shows your commitment to support and aid in collaborating on that specific article if it is chosen. Although you are not required to fulfill that commitment, we ask that you only support articles that you are able to contribute to so that this collaboration's goals of expanding and improving articles can adequately be achieved. Feel free to vote for as many candidates as you like.
Any registered user is encouraged to vote so long as you abide by the policies of Wikipedia, specifically Wikipedia:Sockpuppets.
Please add only support votes. Opposing votes will not affect the result, as the winner is simply the one with the most support votes (see Approval voting).
To vote for a nomination, edit the nomination and add the following to the bottom of the Support section:
# ~~~~
This adds your username and a time stamp to the numbered list item. The vote will look like this:
- Username 08:59, 1 July 2005 (UTC)
If you wish to withdraw your vote, do not remove your vote; instead, add an asterisk and strike-through tags to your vote as shown:
#* <s>[[User:Username|Username]] 08:59, 1 July 2005 (UTC)</s>
This allows Wikipedia to correctly calculate the remaining votes and will appear like this:
- Username2 08:39, 1 July 2005 (UTC)
Username 08:59, 1 July 2005 (UTC)
- Username3 08:39, 2 July 2005 (UTC)
Note:We do not choose the article through consensus; we choose it through a majority voting system.
Ties
In case of a tie, voting will be extended for 24 hours. If there is still a tie, the candidate that was nominated first wins. During the extended voting period the old collaboration will still be active. In the case of extended voting, the collaboration period will be reduced to 6 days.
Pruning
Nominations will be moved to /Removed if they have not received 3 votes after 7 days on the list, 6 votes after 14 days, 9 votes after 21 days, and so on.

- Recently created article by me, however questions have been raised about one or two of the sources in the article. Hopefully, with this, we could clean it up and possibly give it a stab at GA, and hopefully later FA status. Davnel03 07:02, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

- Davnel03 has doen some great work lately, so it would be great if the project could lend some support. While building up SummerSlam (1993), I've discovered how hard the (reliable) sourcing can be. ONS 2005 is already great, but if a few people dug through their books and combed the internet, we should be able to put the finishing touches on this article. Also, if anyone wishes to do any edits on December to Dismember (2006), please do, that's currently a GA nomination. If that passes GA (which I think and damn hope it does), then this article almost certainly could pass GA.Alls looking good! :) Davnel03 16:13, 2 October 2007 (UTC) - I'm voting cause I can. --Endless Dan 14:37, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

- Just like a lot of the WWE title lists, it would be nice to try to improve the NWA title lists and, possibly, bring them to featured list status. And it would start with the World Heavyweight Championship list. All the page really needs are some sources. The Chronic 02:36, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

- An Article so important like the history of WORLD WRESTLING ENTERTAINMENT, is just B-Class. I think we can do something about this. Obviously, with the years, this article can become a FA easily, it just needs the support and hard work from us. Lex94 12:17, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
Bad-faith nomination. Yes, work needs to be done to it, but it is vandalised every single day if I'm to be honest. It will probably never improve past B level. If others agree with me, this nomination shall be removed. Thanks Dav ;) --Naha|(talk) 21:21, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
- Our will in wikipedia is supposed to help articles expand and improve, and expand the knowledge of most people via this encyclopedia. With an attitude like "the article will get vandalized, so why have it improved...", you are assuming bad-faith from editors (try reading Wikipedia's policy on Assuming Good Faith). I think this article is extremely important, and is the base on all knowledge of all WWE related articles. It is the company that made Pro Wrestling what it is today, and deserves an FA. This is why I nominated it. Lex94 15:24, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
No, I'm not being bad faith towards you. My point is that we as a project cannot improve articles if there is constant edit warring on the article from day-to-day, therefore the article isn't stable. I wouldn't mind seeing it on COTW, but I feel it would just be vandalised even more while members of this project attempt to improve it. Davnel03 15:43, 14 October 2007 (UTC)- Then why did you call this a "bad-faith" nomination? Lex94 Talk Contributions Signatures 01:51, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
- Just to comment, there is no such thin as a bad faith nomination when you're nominating the article to be improved. Just throwing that out there, The Hybrid T/C 01:54, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
- Stongly Agree with everything the nom said - this should have been a FA a long time ago. If the same attitude was kept by the detractor above as all the other users on Wikipedia, Wikipedia would get no where.--Endless Dan 16:44, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
- Suggestion: Could the article be 'semi-protected' so that only established users can edit it? This would help prevent many vandalism attempts. --Endless Dan 16:47, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
- I'm pretty sure it already is protected. Nikki311 17:26, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
- Suggestion: Could the article be 'semi-protected' so that only established users can edit it? This would help prevent many vandalism attempts. --Endless Dan 16:47, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
- Support - the amount of vandalism, while it may suck, should not be a detering factor. WWE needs to be an FA, period. --Naha|(talk) 00:13, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
- Support, vandalism is entirely irrelevant. It takes a maximum of three clicks to revert it. WWE is the undisputed king of the wrestling industry; such a high-profile article absolutely must be of only the best quality. I'd like to see this make GA, so next month it can be the FACOTW. The Hybrid T/C 01:23, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
- Comment those that say "vandalism is irrelevant" I would like to point out that one of the criterias for "GA" is "Stability", as in no edit warring, little vandalism and a generally stable article - it'd have a hard time fullfilling that GA criteria at the moment, doesn't mean it shouldn't or can't be improved but it makes is much harder to get it above the "B" rating it has now unfortunately. MPJ-DK 10:07, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
- Reply actually, if you read Wikipedia:What is a good article?, point number 5, then you will see that vandalism reversions are specifically exempted from being counted against the article. So, yes, vandalism is irrelevant. Cheers, The Hybrid T/C 12:41, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
- Reply I would like to further point out that regardless of whether or not the article ever became GA or FA due to stability issues, we should still strive to greatly improve and maintain it so that (1) it is an article our project can be proud of and (2) the better the article, the better the encyclopedia period. --Naha|(talk) 12:47, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
- Reply Regardless of such vandalism being inserted into the article, we can still try to improve the qualities of it and maybe improving it to Good Article or even better Feature Article. I'm supporting. Zenlax Talk Contributions Signatures 19:44, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

- I'm nominating this for 2 reasons: 1) I did most of the work in making it a GA and making it a FA would make me happy 2) It has a variety of sources at the moment and considering his notability, there are a lot more out there. Having the required third party sourcing for a FA article would not be a problem. In addition, the excellent GA reviews of Naha and MPJ-DK really helped improve the article. Their incredible eyes for detail really made the article close to FA status already, in my opinion. Nikki311 17:25, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
- I'm also voting yes to this article. Kurt Angle is one of the most important men in the business today and the article could certainly get FA status with a bit of work. Gavyn Sykes 18:24, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

- I'm nominating this article since it's actually had some time as a "Good Article" and shown stability. - As I helped a little during the GA process, this could have a stab at FA status. Davnel03 19:17, 14 October 2007 (UTC)
- If this article gets the nomination, we are guaranteed to successfully pass the first FACOTW, so I feel comfortably supporting this in addition to Kurt Angle. The Hybrid T/C 01:20, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
- A guarantee? Sounds good. Gavyn Sykes 00:18, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
- I prefer this one over the others per the stability factor. - Caribbean~H.Q. 08:37, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
- It definitly doesn't suffer the weekly rumors, speculations, spoilers and vandalism that both Angle and Triple H does. MPJ-DK 16:46, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

- Triple H's article is one of my favorite articles to read and I think maybe we can up it a little and maybe improving some quantities to what the article has to store. Any supporters? Zenlax Talk Contributions Signatures 19:14, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
- I second this. --Endless Dan 19:26, 16 October 2007 (UTC)

- I hate to cause a tie, but I support because it is Triple H. It would send a powerful message that this project has gotten its act together if such an important BLP were to reach featured status. I don't think that I could justify not supporting it. The Hybrid T/C 23:42, 16 October 2007 (UTC)
