Haddonfield, Illinois is a fictional city located in Livingston County, Illinois and is the principal setting for the Halloween motion picture saga (Except for Halloween III: Season of the Witch and (although mentioned) Halloween H20: 20 Years Later). It is where Halloween (1978) and Halloween II (1981) co-writer and co-producer Debra Hill was born. Because of the financial success, fan interest and now classic status of the Halloween film series, Haddonfield has become a familiar and favored example of a typical American, suburban/rural setting.

Health

Haddonfield Memorial Hospital is a large general hospital that was the site of a climactic showdown of Dr. Samuel J. Loomis and Laurie Strode against now-serial killer Michael Myers. On its campus is the nearby Haddonfield Children's Clinic where a nine-year-old Jamie Lloyd was being treated for trauma.

Education

Haddonfield is served by Haddonfield Elementary School, Haddonfield Middle School, Haddonfield High School, Haddonfield Junior College and Haddonfield University. H.U. is a state and locally funded university specializing in literature education, medicine, philosophy, psychology, and religion.

In Pop Culture

Horror Punk band Wednesday 13 released a song named "Haddonfield" with references to the location of Haddonfield in Halloween. This song was released on his LP "Fang Bang"

Landmarks and popular attractions

Haddonfield may be best known for its expanding Haddonfield Memorial Park Cemetery. Shaded by native Evergreen and introduced Arecaceae, it is one of Illinois’ cleanest and best laid out cemeteries. Haddonfield also has a "Historic Downtown", known locally as the Town Square, boasts many specialty shops and period restaurants. There is also a closed down drive in theatre, closed in in the early 1970’s, the Lost River Drive-In, named for the city’s southbound river, was a popular gathering site for teens and adults. It was famous for the re-showing of classic films, one of many being Psycho.[original research?]

The Old Myers House is a two-story white-washed Victorian house located at 45 Lampkin Lane in the north-west section of the city. The north-west section is known best for its quality-built residences located on the well-kept tree-lined Orange Grove Boulevard. It is popular due to the residence of Michael Myers before he was institutionalised.
