Crockett's Theme was a song written for the hit NBC series Miami Vice, from the episode Calderone's Return when he is walking with his wife Caroline and his son Billy. Originally composed by Jan Hammer, this song is an example of the instrumental New Wave hits popular during the late 1970s and thoughout the 1980s. It spawned many covers, such as ones by the Finnish heavy metal band Children of Bodom, FPU and Trance Atlantic Air Waves. Although not originally called Crockett's Theme, its success led Jan Hammer to feature the original version on his 1987 album Escape From Television. During the early 1990's it featured in a series of adverts for National Westminster bank in the United Kingdom.
