this link points to the music video; in analysis, the song has a similar rhythmic pattern to such song but steel drums are not included in the aforementioned song. Additionally, there is not an electric guitar track nor the same or phrases of the same lyrics that "party like a rock star" used. "Superman that ho" & Lyrics in general

Regarding the lyrics I've been trying to incorporate links to two op-ed pieces that deal with the lyrics. Both op-eds are from the same student paper, but I think they should be included somewhere because Crank That is their primary subject. I've tried creating a section about the lyrics and referencing the op-eds but was deleted, then I tried to add them as external links but these were deleted as well. I'm not sure how exactly to best add these links but I think they would be a good contribution to the Crank That entry. Also even though the second op-ed is satirical there are a lot of user comments that are serious. Superpesto (talk) 18:08, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

References to the major remixes like "Crank that Spiderman" which has actually been played in clubs, unlike the minor ones that are listed now

There has been a remix by Experimental-Screamo band I Set My Friends On Fire. The song is called, "Crank That Calvary Boy"

The above remixes have now been addressed in the article. It should be noted that they are not remixes per se since many of them don't use anything from the song (Crank Dat Homeless Man, for example, is a parody, and many of the other sample the beat but have totally different lyrics). There are now two separate paragraphs, one on remixes and one on this new subgenre of "Crank Dat"s. If you feel this is a bad system for some reason, please discuss here before changing it back! Also, I recently found that the remix information was somewhat inaccurate. For example, the Travis Barker remix doesn't feature any one of the half-dozen people it listed--it's just Travis Barker. Are we sure about that? Crank dat Soulja Boy seems to reference "Crank dat Roosevelt" and "Crank dat Robocop"...although maybe it is simply referencing the Roosevelt and the Robocop sans Crank dat. Anyway, even if the term had no meaning before the song, it certainly has a meaning outside of the song now--see Remixes section. If anyone knows better, please let us know! Parodies

This sounds kind of opinionated to me...

"The song is easily recognized with its steel pan melody, highly repetetive rhythm, and incoherent lyrics."

Alright so I admit I hate this song with a passion, but 1.) repetitive is spelled wrong, and 2.) sounds more opinionated than factual, mostly concerning the last two clauses. IT IS YOUR OPINION and I would like to see the article protected from those people who say its ok to vandalize an article with opinions like that one.
