Jaitu is a city and a municipal council in Faridkot district in the Indian state of Punjab.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[1] Jaitu had a population of 32,898. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Jaitu has an average literacy rate of 72%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 67%, and female literacy is 56%. In Jaitu, 13% of the population is under 6 years of age.

'Climate'Summer temperatures can be as high as 50 °C (122°F); and winter temperatures as low as 0 °C (32°F). The weather is generally dry but will be highly humid from mid May to end of August due to farmers irrigating the fields[citation needed]. Rainfall is primarily from the southwest, due to the monsoon, and lasts from mid-July to mid-September.

Jaitu is mainly well known for its Mandis. Jaitu has a great market of Wheat and Paddy. Presently Sardar Sukhbir singh Badal is the MP and Sardar ripjeet Singh Brar is the MLA. There are three good schools in jaitu mandi, the best being SAraswati senior secondary School and other two being Sivalik public School and DAV centenary public school. There is no college for boys, girls have one college named saraswati college but it only provides arts degree.

now there another degrees like bca is also provided under guru nanak dev university. stundets are getting succes in various fields of engeenering here... Here the main business is of money lending and dealing with agricultural products.There are around 10 rice mills and 3 cotton factories. They are basically known as commission agents.

Gangsar jaitu mailnly known as jaitu is a historical place.guru gobid singh ji visited here during his lifetime. There are three gurudwaras in jaitu known as Gurudwara Gangsar sahib,Gurudwara Tibbi Sahib etc.
