References

I changed the last paragraph on references into a sub-section with bibliographic formatting. I also added a reference. I realize the book is in Spanish, but it is an excellent resource (depite its lacking an index).--Rockero 21:33, 28 October 2005 (UTC) Also many researcher on this topic probably speak Spanish.--Rockero 08:16, 3 November 2005 (UTC)

Merge

These two articles really belong together. --evrik 00:04, 27 September 2006 (UTC)

  • When I hear "Latin rock", I think of the rock produced in Latin America, not of the rock produced by Latinos in the United States. At least for the most part. If anything, Latin rock should probably be merged with Spanish language rock and roll.--Rockero 02:28, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
    • Well, maybe we should rewrite Latino Rock to include references to Chicano rock. --evrik 02:29, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
      • I just searched the web and the library catalogs for "Latin rock", since besides being a stub, the LR article is also unsourced. In the literature, the term is used either for both Rock en Español in general or for U.S. rock by Latinos, regardless of the language. In the latter sense, Chicano rock would be a major component of "Latin rock", but would not encompass it entirely. So maybe the Latin rock article should be made into a disambiguation page and a new, Latin rock in the United States article should be made?--Rockero 03:04, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
  • I think we should flesh out the one that exist and then have a subsection thta then points to Chicano rock. --evrik 19:50, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

Chicano = Mexican = Latin

The puerto rican band Puya recorded the album Fundamental on 1999 on Florida, US and get success on the Ozzfest. They are not latin rock??

The argentinean band Fabulosos Cadillacs won a Grammy for Best Latin Rock on 1998. And why they can not be part of this article??? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 190.43.29.24 (talk) 23:25:57, August 18, 2007 (UTC)

The bands you cited are not Chicanos, as in Chicano = Mexican-Americans. Chicano rock specifically and only references bands that are started by Mexican-Americans or Mexicans living in America. Some would say there is a specifically LA/California-centricness to the term Chicano, as it isn't really used by a Mexican-American living on the East Coast. hope that helps Kitten b 05:18, 2 September 2007 (UTC)kitten b

That's what i'm saying. Chicano rock is not latin rock, why is the same article? --190.40.64.4 23:18, 13 September 2007 (UTC) So... now latin is synonim of mexican?— Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.24.92.160 (talkcontribs)

Latin Rock should not automatically redirect to Chicano Rock. Chicano Rock could be considered a part of Latin Rock, also known as Rock en español, in which Chicano Rock is listed. Windexwindex (talk) 01:46, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
