About Me

[edit]

My name is Shahzad, I'm originally from Pakistan, I majored in English (specializing in postcolonial literature) and now I work in Online Marketing for TV Guide.

Some of My Favorite Things

[edit]

I can't make definitive lists of my all time favorites Movies, Books and TV Shows, but here are a few that always come to mind:

BOOKS

TV SHOWS

MOVIES

TV Guide

[edit]

I'm Director of Online Marketing at TV Guide, in charge of TV Guide's Social Networking program. I've carefully read all of Wikipedia's guidelines, and completely understand that any promotion or links back to TV Guide made by me, my staff or anyone at TV Guide for marketing purposes is in violation of those guidelines.

In other words, if you find TV Guide links in the external link section of a TV article, we didn't put it there - and the same goes for any news references. We'll always go through discussion pages, to try to convince editors of the validity of our TV/Entertainment coverage, and leave the community to judge the content's value and worthiness to be placed on the page.

I'm working on making this an official policy within the organization, but these strict non-self-promotion guidelines are "unofficially" official - punishable by drawn and quartering by those who dare to disobey. :)

My Personal Wikipedia Contributions

[edit]

I'm a pop culture, sports, movie and literature fanatic, so I'll put my liberal arts education to good use by contributing to these areas on Wikipedia.

Please feel free to email me (using the 'email this user' link in the nav) or IM via AIM: shahzad25 for any reason, and in particular if you have strong feelings either way about how I'm trying to represent TV Guide on Wikipedia.

As I said, I'm new to Wikipedia, I'll no doubt make mistakes, but I'm willing to learn and keep first and foremost the integrity of Wikipedia's content and community as my guiding principles.
