Pukka Herbs Ltd, is the the largest supplier of ayurvedic herbs in the United Kingdom.[1]. The company based in Bristol, England, was founded in 2001, by Sebastian Pole and Tim Westwell. The company provides organic ayurvedic herbal remedies and teas.

History

Pukka Herbs Ltd was founded in 2001 by Sebastian Pole, an Ayurvedic practitioner, and Tim Westwell, formerly in business development for the IT industry. Their aim was to provide 100% organic Ayurvedic herbal remedies and teas, certified by the Soil Association[2].

The farms

The farms are co-operatives located in India and Sri Lanka. The company has a fair trade policy. It works directly with over 500 families that organically grow over 1,000,000 plants and trees per year [3].

Charities

Currently the company is helping rebuilding and developing a non-government funded rundown secondary school in a remote area of western Karnataka, India. The company also rise money for the project Walk the Walk; a charity who works to the awareness for breast cancer, research and cancer care.[4]

Awards and mentions

The company won a gold Great Taste Awards 2007, in the category of Herbal tea / Infusion. with four of their blends: Revitalise, Refresh, Clarity and Relax.[5][6] Some of their products have been made reference on Timesonline, in their section "Life & Style" on Complementary Medicine, such as giving help managing stress[7]; or helping to overcome night sweats[8].
