Nothing happens..

I entered my username and password, and I clicked Log-in.... but nothing happens. Help? --pbroks13talk? 01:45, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Same problem for me... Paradoxsociety (talk) 02:53, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Are you running Vista? Calvin 1998 Talk Contribs 02:56, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nope, I running Windows XP with IE. --pbroks13talk? 03:00, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

When you click "Log-in", the "Verify Authorization" button should become un-grayed-out. Does it? Please explain the problem a bit more. Calvin 1998 Talk Contribs 03:15, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, when I open it, my username is in grey, and I can't type in my password I am able to click "Verify Authorization" but not "Log-In To WP". Clicking on "Verify Authorization" does nothing. So if I click "Ch" and retype my username, then I can type my password. I am then able to click "Log-In To WP", but still, nothing happens. The "Verify" button stays grey. (By the way, what does WP stand for? Shouldn't it be VP?) --pbroks13talk? 03:21, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
WP stands for Wikipedia. And it's happening to me too, I'm thinking it could possibly be the new updates Microsoft added about yesterday.Calvin 1998 Talk Contribs 04:05, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am running Vista and am having the exact same problem as Pbroks. Except, it shows my IP address when I first load the program, despite the fact that I am logged into WP in Internet Explorer. Paradoxsociety (talk) 04:42, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think the admins disabled VP for now, until there is a new version, because there is a bug that causes a serious error. RainbowOfLight Talk 07:16, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No, it is not disabled at the moment, and should be functioning correctly. I'll look into it. Ale_Jrbtalk 13:30, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I'm having Paradoxsociety's problem. Exactly, to the letter. Calvin 1998 Talk Contribs 21:49, 13 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
When was it re-enabled? Scroll up this page to the section labelled Not Yet Written... it appears BetaCommand disabled it on March 1st. I would have like to have been informed via a public message if it had been re-enabled! RainbowOfLight Talk 07:02, 14 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm having the exact same problem as both Paradoxsociety and Calvin 1998. My IP address shows up first and when I try to log in with my own username and password, nothing will happen. - zachinthebox (Talk) 23:45, 15 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It happens to me too. I only got permission for it today though so it might be something to do with that. George D. Watson (Dendodge).TalkHelp 22:49, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
See my complaint under User talk:AmiDaniel/VP/Discuss#Script Error-I'm having the exact same problem, except without the IP address thing. Two One Six Five Five τ ʃ 17:26, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Addendum: I'm running Firefox 2.0.0.7 under Vista Home Ed. I'd update, but I don't feel like it.... Two One Six Five Five τ ʃ 17:29, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Do you have to add something to your monobook.js file? George D. Watson (Dendodge).TalkHelp 21:14, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

(outdent) Nope. Two One Six Five Five τ ʃ 21:18, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I created a bug report about the problem here. Please add additional comments with problems. - zachinthebox (Talk) 20:53, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I may have a potential workaround. I am Windows XP w/ Firefox, and I wonder if the Firefox thing has something to do with it. Anyway, see my workaround below under the "Not logging in" section. --Jaysweet (talk) 20:48, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

VP not logging in

I've been approved to use VP but when I tried to log in, nothing happens. Details as follow:

  • When I execute the program, the user name shows as my IP address and login grey-out. I click Ch, enter my user name and pwd and click login... this time, the verify button is grey-out and then nothing happens.
  • OS: Windows XP SP2, IE 6 SP2

--Cahk (talk) 20:06, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

See above, User talk:AmiDaniel/VP/Discuss#Nothing happens... Calvin 1998 (t-c) 20:47, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It's been awhile but I am still unable to use VP.--Cahk (talk) 20:42, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I had the exact same problem but I was able to workaround it with the following steps:
  • Close VP.
  • Open Internet Explorer (I am normally a Firefox user) and log in to Wikipedia with that. Make sure to click "Remember me"
  • Leave IE open, and re-open VP.
  • It should have your username, and you won't even have to click Ch. Just click Verify and you are good.
Hopefully that will work for you... --Jaysweet (talk) 20:46, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Cool! It worked for the first time since I was approved a month ago.--Cahk (talk) 10:36, 26 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ive got the same problem as above (I turn on VP and it jumps to the blue window, I click on Verify Authorization but nothing happens), and Ive tried the above but still nothing happens Fattyjwoods (Push my button) 23:47, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Same here. I've given up on VP. - zachinthebox (Talk) 14:24, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Number of edits

How can I see my number of edits? I would like to apply for an account. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jmeeter (talkcontribs) 22:53, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rolling back multiple consecutive vandal edits

The process for rolling back multiple consecutive vandal edits seems awkward in VP. Maybe I am just not yet used to the tool. Anyway, I would like some tips.

When I used Twinkle, I typically went straight to the History page as soon as I saw vandalism. Then I'd pick the two versions I wanted and do the diff.

Since VP does this in one click (a good thing), sometimes I don't notice that the last edit was from the same person (a bad thing) and I only roll back the one vandal edit and not both. I sorta would have thought that VP would give me a warning about that, e.g. "The same user has made multiple consecutive edits, rollback all? (yes/no)"

In any case, even if I remember to check who made the last edit, the only way I have found is to click history, select the versions I want, do the diff, and THEN hit the rollback button, which is actually more clicks than Twinkle for that process (in Twinkle, I was already on the history page before I did anything else).

Is that the best way to do it, or is there another, more streamlined way that I am missing? --Jaysweet (talk) 13:53, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
