Spam-blacklist

Have added a supplement, a general " how-to: of sorts. Improve if needed, ect. A shortcut has been created WP:BLACK. cheers--Hu12 (talk) 10:42, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Excellent work - many thanks --Herby talk thyme 11:41, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Off topic but fyi--Hu12 (talk) 14:00, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks - spotted it earlier. I've apologised to the user concerned (it was a flippant remark on - I think - a bad day) but I wasn't sure about joining in a conversation that had moved on elsewhere? I notice the focus was not on my starter comments either! --Herby talk thyme 14:16, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Herby!

Nice to see you here too Herby :) I know I recently asked on you Commons if their is anything I should change/improve on, but I was wondering if you could be a "mentor" or something for me here on Wikipedia. I hope this isn't bothering you. Best regards, --Kanonkas :  Take Contact  16:24, 24 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This does not bother me at all however you really do not want someone like me to help you here. I am not a particularly active member of this project & such activity as I do do here is in very restricted areas. I work almost solely on disruptive editing often with cross wiki implications and deal mostly with conflict of interest issues & excessive external linkage. You would do much better to find someone with far more general knowledge. Equally - given you are likely to be an admin on Commons soon - it might be as well to focus there for a while rather than be overstretched? Prod Removal

Thanks for the heads up! I caught that myself too. My original problem was that the initial article creation (here) appeared to be a straight copy and paste of a journal article. However, since then, the author has cleaned it up and added references. I'm OK with the article remaining now, as it just needs the normal cleanup that a lot of WP articles do. If there's anything else I can help with let me know. Cheers! TNX-Man 13:32, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Celebrity poker spam

You missed one:

Should be BLed here or on meta because it has zero use whatsoever on Wikimedia projects. In fact, it's the kind of site I'd expect to be spammed by XRumer users (the ones responsible for the /w/index.php/ spam pages). I've put together a quick WikiProject Spam item for the blacklist log. MER-C 12:25, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I listed it at Meta before I started cleaning :) There was a page created there at the same time. Must have used a bunch of accounts though one I deleted went back to last year. Thanks --Herby talk thyme 12:28, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Tivate

Herby, thanks for tips. You're right it is a COI. I apologize. I'm very proud of the interviews and would like others to benefit from them too. However, I don't want to be associated with link spam at all. I'm learning. Thanks for making Wikipedia a better place and you won't have any trouble from me again. Thanks.
