Mark Smith (born 30 September 1970, in Acton, London) is an English body builder who competed as Rhino on the popular ITV show, Gladiators.

Career

Smith's fame began in 1995 when he joined TV's 'Gladiators' as 'Rhino', where he remained for five years. Since Leaving Gladiators Smith has appeard several blockbusters including 'Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy', 'Rollin' with the Nines' and an appearance as a 'Shadow Warrior' in the film Batman Begins.[1]

Smith has also appeared in a number of TV drama's including Lynda La Plante's 'Trial & Retribution', 'Hustle', 'The Bill' and 'Inspector Morse'. Smith recently featured in an episode for the BBC One series 'Robin Hood' where he played an Arabian knight called Karim.[2]

Smith now co-ordinates the fitness programme for a newly developed gym 'Island Fitness' in Enfield[3]

On 4th June 2005, at London's infamous York Hall, SMith went head to head with lottery winner Michael Carroll in a boxing match. The fight drew much publicity with the press conference ending in a brawl after Carroll lunged for Smith. On the day, the fight had to be stopped three times due to Carroll's inability to continue. The former binman later stated "I will definitely get back in the ring with him. I will train harder next time.".[4] The charity re-match took place at the Manchester Evening News Arena in September 2005. This time Carroll was knocked out in the 2nd Round.[5]
