MC Paul Barman is a white Jewish rapper from Ridgewood, New Jersey, who attended Brown University.

Style

"Enter Pan-Man," from his self-produced 7-inch Postgraduate Work (Househusband Records, 1998), attracted the attention of Prince Paul, and the two collaborated, releasing the It's Very Stimulating EP in 2000 on Wordsound. Paullelujah! followed in late 2002, with production by Prince Paul, MF DOOM, MikeTheMusicGuy and Phofo. He has appeared on records with Deltron 3030 and Masta Ace, and has toured with Del tha Funkee Homosapien and Blackalicious. One of his most memorable works was the song “Housemate Troubles,” released on Matador Records, a scathing commentary on the modern social pressures of co-habitation.

Innovations

Va-Jay-Jay

In 2000, MC Paul Barman potentially coined the word "va-jay-jay"[citation needed]. Its first use was featured in his song, "MTV Get Off the Air, Part 2" from the "It's Very Stimulating" EP, released February 15, 2000. Since coining "va-jay-jay", the word has been weaved into the American lexicon and reached widespread popularity in 2007 when the word "va-jay-jay" was used by Oprah Winfrey on her television program. This use inspired the recurring segment, "Oprah's Va-Jay-Jay" on E! Network's The Soup.

Palindromes

MC Paul Barman was the first to prominently feature palindromes in his rhymes, most notably the track "Bleeding Brain Grow" from 2002's Paullelujah!, produced by Prince Paul. Some palindromes from the entire Paullelujah! album include: "Rev. Love Evolver"; "Cormega, Cage, Mr. O.C."; "Kosovo's OK". His longest palindrome is the following name check: "Mika, RZA, Evil JD. Nasir is Osiris and J-Live, AZ, Rakim".

Morse Code

MC Paul Barman also aspires to rhyme in Morse code.[citation needed]
