Vincent Kompany

Hi and welcome again to wikipedia. Just wanted to say that I reverted your edit on Vincent Kompany as I think there is no reason to change his pob from the French name to the Dutch one, especially since Vincent is French-speaking. Anyway, if you feel bothered by my edit, I propose that you change it again by removing [[Uccle]] and adding [[Uccle|Uccle/Ukkel]] that will appear as Uccle/Ukkel. By the way, there was recently a discussion to decide if we should change the location of the municipalities of the Brussels Capital Region from their French name to a title that contains the Dutch name too. This discussion is now closed but you might be interested in reading it at the relevant talk page and you also may give your opinion even in the discussion even if the vote is now closed. IJ

Because it consered a single letter by most Dutch and it doesn't hurt to include it in Unicode. Historically it has always been written as an I + J on computers, which also has the advantage of being sorted correctly. —Ruud 15:22, 15 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Honolulu, Hawaiʻi

Ok, Westermarck. While I don't really feel like getting into it with anyone about the rightness or wrongness of spelling Hawaiʻi the way that it is currently generally accepted as the correct way to spell it in the place that the article is about, if you insist on removing the okina, please go through the article word by word and remove all the kahako (the little lines above the vowels) as well. It is very annoying, an eyesore, and frankly nonsensical for you to remove the okina and leave behind all these (excuse my language) half-assed spellings of all the Hawaiian words in the article. It's all or nothing. So if you take it upon yourself to change one part of the article, please do the responsible thing and change the rest of the article to match it.

Hello, Westermarck. I wanted to say a couple things, first, to reinforce what Oreo Priest states above, you must achieve consensus for moves that aren't uncontroversial (and by uncontroversial, I mean correcting typos, capitalization problems, etc.). As for NPOV concerns, they aren't really valid. The only issue that should concern the name of the title is reflecting what name is used in English more frequently. This ensures the page title will fall in line with both WP:UE and WP:NCGN. One last issue is the forward slash in the name, which creates page location issues (i.e, if you look at Talk:Grand Place / Grote Markt, which is now a redirect, you'll see that it's been subordinated to Talk:Grand Place). I know Brussels is bilingual and have been through it a million times, but there was actually a consensus on the talk page. Aside from it being overwhelmingly called Grand Place by English speakers, that's the official UNESCO name. Also, articles should have single titles, so that makes a mess. Map of Europe

Hi. I saw the new map that you made [2] and although everyone is welcome to make contributions to wikipedia, I believe your map violates the WP:NPOV policy as it shows Turkey - which almost entirely is in Asia - as "continues territory of the European" country while Caucasus states are shown as "physiographically" in Asia. As there is definitely NO official border, this kind of map will prompt us to think that it is based on your own POV.--Carbott (talk) 02:12, 23 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop deleting multilingual support templates

Please do not delete content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Flanders, without explaining the valid reason for the removal in the edit summary.
