Re: Belittle or little be, nevertheless, let be an appology!

WP:NOT#INFO "Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information." I was using "nonsense" in a loose way. The connotation of "nonsense" I was using was "mostly useless information" not "meaningless text". The information that I deleted was not encyclopedic, as it seemed to be a transcription of the packaging of one specific product. I doubt anyone would need to know the type of lettering used on the converter, or the patent number. To really improve the article, there should be more information on the use and types of converters, instead of specific information about one converter. If you're concerned about "colour" becoming "color", the spell-checker did that. I apologize if my words were misconstrued. Adam850 06:07, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Parentheses

Hi-

You've twice removed parentheses from Earth (diff). I agree that parentheses can sometimes be a sign of badly structured text, but why is that so in the context of your edit? The parentheses are used to identify different units: 1.1 billion years is the same as 1.1 Gyr, effectively a unit conversion. Therefore, it should be written as 1.1 billion years (1.1 Gyr). This is common and expected practice; see MOS:CONVERSIONS. ASHill (talk | contribs) 21:34, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This text is badly structured because the parentheses is something that can be ignored. In fact, when I read through this article the first time and shortly after skipping over the term arrived at the second occurence, the sentences then became WP:VAGUE, making me feel like some idiot and effectivelly raising my level of frustration. In fact the first occurence of the term Gyr is quite important because it even has a wikilink to the term : "Gyr". Again, the removal of the parenthesis helps clarify this issue or essentially, having parenthesis make the structure difficult to understand. --FR Soliloquy (talk) 17:03, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
