Evidence of Corticopia's behaviour and past accounts

Hello, Alex: I've read your comments at the 3RR noticeboard and was curious about what evidence you have that the anon IP who edit warred with you is Corticopia. I do notice some similarities in the tone of writing the IP uses; is there more than this? If there is, leave it here and I'll have a look. Note that it makes no difference concerning Tango's block of you, which I fully support. Heimstern Läufer (talk) 20:31, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. He has been editing the same articles for almost 2 years, causing problems and editwars here and there. He (or she) creates new accounts when his sockpuppetry, uncivil and disruptive manners [1] or use of profanity [2] are exposed, or when the account is too blocked and will caputre admin. attention with every 3RR or editwar he starts.

Recently I asked admin. Picaroon to help me with his uncivi manners in the article Metropolis. He's never willing to compromise and start a talk thus creating edit wars. This is the original message asking for help [3].

He in his multiple account, uses the same language, same arguments, even the same insults... even the same edit summary (as you will notice later)! He also has the tendency of editing his own comments lots of times after the 1st. entry. All his accounts present the same behaviour. Please take a look at this message, read it CAREFULLY. It was originally created to draw attention from an admin.:

"Editing at North America"

However, you must know about sockpuppetry, right Corticopia? Or should I say (links to the contributions page of every account):
Kaf, just take a look at the sockpuppetry case against E Pluribus (number 1) and to the second E Pluribus sockpuppetry case (number 2) but most importantly, check every single account BLOCK LOG and CONTRIBUTIONS. As admins know (and as stated in the sockpuppetry page), persons that use these practices always use edit summaries and have the same edit pattern.
You will see the same edit pattern in all of those accounts, for instance articles such as:
  • North America
  • Continent
  • Georgia
  • Cyprus
  • Canada (and articles related)
  • Lieutenant-Governor (Canada)
  • Central America
  • Isaac Asimov (and articles related such as Data, Star Trek...) and his sci-fi creations.
  • And many more...
Then look at Corticopia's first edit and all his edit pattern.
Sadly I opened my mouth too soon when he came back [4] when I tried let other users know about Corticopia being the same person that came back to spread his bias and hate against Mexico and other countries (and stubbornly try to tag it as a "Central American" country), so I kinda prevent him from making that "mistake" again, he was very smart and stoped editing anything related to Isaac Asimov... but every other single article he edits is consistent with the edit pattern of the other accounts. I guess he was not very smart at the end of the day.
He's from Toronto, Canada. Guess what? Look up the IP of the other "anonimous editor" that kept erasing the fact that North America is also a subcontinent. Yeah! You're right! Those IPs are from Toronto, Canada. It is not surprising. Look at the North America talk page, first message. I left a warning note there about him and his past accounts and his repeated anon. edits from IPs from Toronto.
Yeah, that's right. As I already say, you must think everybody is like you. Sorry Kaf for this loooong message, but I think it was the time to demask Corticopia and his past. After all, he's the one that tried to "accuse" me of something HE DID and I believe he still does in the Isaac Asimov related pages (with another acc. of course). Thanks.

Also take a look at the history of every article Corticopia currently edits or is interested in. Even the first edits of each article. You will see that at least one of his previous accounts (most notably E Pluribus Anthony) has edited or started the article. For example, take a look at the history of the article I've been blocked for (Subregion). You will see his name on it.

For the anon IP behaviour look at [5].

Corticopia is from Toronto, that anon. IP is from Ottawa. Both from Ontario. That makes me believe he is in that city right now and that's why the main account "Corticopia" hasn't been online for 2 days now. If he logs in with Corticopia, the anon. IP will be registered in that account, providing a direct evidence that he is the same person. However, the level of knowledge about Wikipedia and the procedures to report 3RR violations are also clear evidence that he is the same person, as well as the use of uncivil manners and even the use of the edit summary (new users tend not to do this accordingly to Sockpuppet article).

This is a very complex case, so I recommend you to study it slowly. I honestly believe Corticopia's behaviour is not the best for Wikipedia.

About my blocking for 1 month, I only want to point that it seems a little extreme (the amount of time). Corticopia was blocked for 1 month, and when he started another editwar he was blocked only for 2 weeks. Thanks and I hope you can reconsider the amount of time. I believe that will only encourage his behaviour as it is clear that his target was to get me blocked and trick the system by using an anon IP. More evidence

Please take a look at User:Quizimodo's edit pattern. He's a user that only created his account in January 2007. However, if you pay attention to his contribution log, he seems to be quite an expert in Wikipedia's policies [6] and of course the use of the edit summary, that again, accordingly to WP:SOCK is a clear sign of sockpuppetry. Please notice the words and style of writing he uses when talking to other editors. Very similar that the one used by the above accounts.

Quizimodo's edit pattern:

  • CityPlace (Toronto)‎
  • South America
  • North America
  • Asia
  • Americas (terminology)
  • Continent
  • Americas
  • Canada
  • Dominion
  • Dominion of Newfoundland

All this is no coincidence I believe, but you as an admin. have the tools to further investigate this and finally end it. Thanks you very much for reading all this lenghty report. AlexCovarrubias 16:57, 2 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

All right, I'll look into this. It may take some time, though. Heimstern Läufer (talk) 18:34, 2 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mexico GA review

Hi, and thanks for asking me to look over the article again. You stated that I didn't leave a reason for failing the article, but if you look over here, I failed it for lacking inline citations, grammar, and for stability issues. The article has improved significantly since May, and I'll be happy to look over the article and tell you what it needs later today (it's 3:00 in the morning here). I'll point out what should be fixed and what it needs to become a GA. Again, good work so far, and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. --Nehrams2020 10:34, 29 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I took about an hour and a half to look over the article and left a review on the talk page. I apologize if it looks overwhelming or harsh. However, I believe if you address all of the issues, the article has a good chance of becoming a Good article. Let me know on my talk page if you have any questions on the review and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. --Nehrams2020 06:32, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The article has greatly improved since the review. Writing a Good Article is extremely difficult due to the large amount of information that is available for a country, and being able to summarize it down and properly source it takes great skill. For the inline citations, it looks like numbers 4Green tickY, 5Green tickY, 14-15Green tickY, 17-20Green tickY, 24Green tickY, 65-75Green tickY, 82Green tickY, 91-92Green tickY, 95Green tickY, & 98Green tickY could use citation templates or be better formatted. Also, before submitting it to GAN, let me know and I'll take another look over the article to see if anything else needs to be fixed. I won't be able to look at it until later this week though since I have several large tests tomorrow. Keep up the good work, it is well on its way of reaching GA status.Again, if you have any questions let me know. --Nehrams2020 06:29, 3 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I have finished with this set of references. I'll wait for your feedback. Thanks for helping me! AlexC. ( Talk? ) 09:40, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey! Can you add me to your list of fans lol… I used your diagram of the continents in a presentation recently. All of the images you contributed are really nice… I though the one about ethnicity was kind of funny though. Y me ganaste, por que yo también iba a escribir un articulo de la lotería. My major is geography and I am right there with you on the UN reform. My e-mail is jgcalixto@gmail.com … it would be nice to chat. -Jose G. Gini/Inequality Chart

Hey,

I'm working on a debate for an international relations class and thought the chart you pulled together for the Gini coefficient page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Gini_since_WWII.gif) was very interesting. I've been having a tough time assembling all of the figures so I was wondering if you could e-mail me your excel file. I'd be very appreciative. Thanks,

Help?

Hi, I would like to ask you a question... how do I report a user who just left me a very insulting message on my talk page? He or she also vandalized my user page. The user is Aloishochwald. I'm asking you because I'm not sure who to ask, because I'm from Mexico too, and you seem experienced enough. Thanks for your help. (PS. I'm leaving my user page and talk page as he or she left them.) UKLeguin (talk) 07:37, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hej Alex

I really liked your Mexico states map and would like to use it for a small brochure I'm is doing about Mexico. But from the Wikipedia site it's not possible to download the map with the names of the states. Would it be possible to get the map including the names?

Thanks a lot!

Help on Argentina Topics.

Greetings, AlexCovarrubias... I have been given a warning about 'edit warring' by User:Fercho85, yet he is the one erasing my additions (With sources, might I add). Everytime I add a reasonably written addition with sources, he erases it and says that a consensus has been reached! I understand he wants to keep Amerindians out of Argentina's articles, but this is supposed to be an accurate encyclopedia. What should I do? Articles:

White People Argentine American Demographics of Argentina White Argentine

among others.Cali567 (talk) 06:44, 7 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Edit warring

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Mexico, Geography of Mexico and related articles, in addition to unjustified removal of dispute tags. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. Corticopia (talk)
