The New Mexico Lottery is run by the government of New Mexico. It is a member of the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL). Its games include Powerball, Hot Lotto, and Roadrunner Cash.

In the Powerball drawing on May 23, 2007, a ticket bought in Chama, New Mexico matched all five white balls, plus the Powerball. The ticket was worth $62.8 million annuity; the winner chose the approximately $29.5 million in cash instead. This was the fourth Powerball jackpot ticket produced in New Mexico (previous winners were in 2000, 2002, and 2005.)

New Mexico sold its first Hot Lotto jackpot winner in the August 4, 2007 drawing, worth approximately $990,000 annuity or $588,000 cash. (A second jackpot winner in the same drawing was purchased in Minnesota.)

New Mexico requires lottery players to be at least 18.
