Miscellaneous

First off, let me welcome you to Wikipedia! I see that this is your first time editing (at least under this user name).

I wanted to come over and personally explain why I recently reverted your edits to this article.

One of the most important policies to Wikipedia is its policy on verifiability. Anything added to an article should be attributable to a third party, neutral, reliable source (see Wikipedia's policy on reliable sources. Anything that is not attributed is subject to being deleted if challenged.

There were also a few edits that you made that, through no fault of yours, unfortunately don't come out right when the editing is completed. For example: adding things like "Midwestern United States" and "Cook County" ... while certainly correct, end up becoming a part of the school's mailing address when presented in the final article. I wish I could change it, but there is no easy way to do so. Also "mascot" refers to the name of a character, while nickname refers to the team's nickname "Friars".

Some of the things you added regarding the school's history were really very good, and I hope you will re-add them, if a source can be found for them. I would be happy to help you format the citations, if you need help with that.

One last thing: This article is currently pending a review with the WikiSchools project folks. I did not do all that much work here (a lot was done before I ever got here), but I think this article is on the verge or receiving a very strong review. I would like to see the article rated well, but that does mean that unattributed material has to be kept to a bare minimum.

If you have any questions, please let me know. I wish you the best of luck on your editing. LonelyBeacon (talk) 23:27, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I also thought I would roll out the red carpet. There are some links that can lead you to some answers to questions. Again, best of luck! LonelyBeacon (talk) 23:31, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I wanted to update you on a few things:
1. I submitted the article for peer review. This is a normal prerequisite for the article to be bumped up to a GA. I think this article must be so close, that I decided to put in the request.
2. There was something you commented on earlier regarding fees and tuition. If there is something about mandatory (or optional fees) that should probably be added in a separate section. I ran across this when I was working on another article ... an editor who was assessing the article.
3. I added another picture of an alum, but am searching for a picture of Pat Quinn. So far, I can find one on the Illinois government website, but sine it is not a federal website, it is not necessarily in the public domain. I will continue researching this.
The article continues to improve. I think you have done great work. LonelyBeacon (talk) 18:33, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Something to throw out to you

By wikipedia's definition: any one who attended the school, even if they did not graduate is considered an alumnus (it weird ... it is not how I would necessarily define it). As long as his attendance at the school can be confirmed, it is accepted that the person be considered an alumnus. LonelyBeacon (talk) 21:49, 7 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked

Another obvious sockpuppet of the Mctrain/societyfinalclub group again trying to insert suspect info and claiming "it all checks out". Identical edits and topics. Reviewing admins let me know if there are any questions or take a look at User:Barneca/watch/societyfinalclubs. --Leivick (talk) 03:40, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Excuse me sir, your acusations are nothing more than that, and yes, the sourcing on the version I pulled up all checks out, Spretti comes up on a google search, the others are links or books with ISBN's- go check for yourself. I asked you for a rational explantion for why an article that is properly sourced is being reverted, and why I, and I suspect several others, are being blocked for being intellegent.Dr.Oak (talk) 03:53, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You have been blocked for being a sockpuppet of a blocked user. It is not possible that so many accounts would all have identical interests in the Barbaro family, Fenwick High School, Phillips Exeter Academy and in particular, the alleged noble Vitus Barbaro. On Wikipedia identical editing patterns equal identical users. Please post an unblock request if you would like to have the block reviewed by other admins. --Leivick (talk) 04:00, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't have an interest in all of those things, I had an interest in Fenwick, which was labled to have people help to improve it- which is what I did. As an alumnus, I had access to help out in ways that others could not, I never edited anything on Exeter, I just saw in the bio that VB went there for summer, so I added his name to the list, then I saw that the Barbaro family page was rather crummy, and I asked LonelyBeacon if we should improve on it as well, but when I saw that there was rather unintellegent reverting going on, I said to myself why should I play this game and be afraid of something that is stupid, I used my brain, and if sources check out, which they did, it should be reverted- that's the smart thing to do. I would also suspect that Fenwick people would be the ones interested in VB, because he went there, there is a bio on him and the family. The overlap is a logical one, it is Fenwick that is the common ground for those other topics. Maybe some kids may have been vandals, but I am not, and the Barbaro family page that you insist on reverting, is the proper article that should exist. I am also not going to post to ask for unblocking because I don't care, I just fooled around with this for the past few days because I was on vaction and had nothing better to do, I only jumped in with the Fenwick page because it was a trip down memory lane- and I knew that I could help out- but I don't have time to be a steady editor on Wikipedia, I just think stupidity is very annoying thats all. I mean come on, you have a crummy Barbaro family page, you have a flag on it to expand the stub, then you attack the people that actually have some connection to the family, via Fenwick, that could help- what do you expect. Also what is such the big deal, you seem to be getting awfully hung up on this topic- I have seen articles about the family that actually attribute the "barbarigo" family to them- how wrong can one get- you take this Wiki stuff way too seriously, no one is going to die over anything posted on Wiki- real encylopedias don't have articls about "Paris Hilton" in them, and like I have even pointed out, the Borghese house one, is completely unsourced, with justin, even if he is related to them, is hardly 'notible'. If you want me to help out, then unblock- I have access to the family bio that is also sourced. If you don't want to unblock, then that's life- I don't know what to tell you. But make a decision now, because I don't have alot of time to help you guys out, just this weekend, and with such a substantial topic like the Barbaro family, it takes time to go over the details.
