J-Rich is a Washington, DC-based hip hop Artist

Biography

Born on July 19, 1989 as David Todd Johnson II to Tina Shuler. J-Rich was introduced to music by underground legends D.I.T.C. A New York based group that consist of rappers Fat Joe, Big L, Showbiz, A/G. A/G who is J-Rich's cousin pushed him to rap since J-Rich was the age of 10. But J-Rich pursued his career after his family relocated to Alexandria.VA, right outside from Washington,DC back in the late 90's. J-Rich got offered his 1st record deal at the age of 14, but had to turn it down because his mother felt his was too young. J-Rich got into the studio when he was 16 and started his legacy of mixtapes. J-Rich's debut mixtape "The Best Out" was released in the fall of 2006 and caught the attention of local DMV record label Target Squad Records. J-Rich ran with the label for about a year before he decided to pursue his own imprint for his mixtapes called 5 star team mixtapes. Now J-Rich is 19 years of age and has released and featured on over 100 mixtapes, and by doing so he has gained a name from fans as The Mixtape Prince. His most known EP "The Freshest Prince" gained over 10,000 downloads world wide with no a mainstream popularity.

2006

On October 1, 2006, J-Rich released his debut mixtape The Best Out. This mixtape got its street buzz with popular internet singles such as "Bathing Apes", "I Don't Wonna Get Ova", and "Victim" that was produced and was featured by Jerzey Kidd. The Best Out was under Target Squad Records. The mixtape was featured at every major mixtape site including Datpiff.com. The mixtape has gain thousands of streams.


2007

In April, 2007, J-Rich Released The Best Out 2 (Unreleased Songs). This mixtape contained songs that was recorded during the process of recording The Best Out. soon after the release of The Best Out 2, J-Rich had songs being linked from the internet. J-Rich went on to release 2 more official mixtapes, Hood Rich Release Date: May 27, 2007 & Don Killuminati: 2007 Year Theory (Double Disc)Release Date: June 25, 2007. Both mixtapes did well in streaming and made J-Rich one of the best Rappers in the Washington, DC metro area. After J-Rich finished out 2007 featuring on dozens of mixtapes world wide. Including the debut of one of the most popular mixtape series in Washington,DC, Maryland, and Virginia, Metro Rap Radio hosted by DJ Torkaveli.


2008

After a long wait since J-Rich's last mixtapes in 2007, J-Rich released a promotional mixtape named "Highway Boyz vol.1" Release Date: February 04, 2008, for his EP The Freshest Prince that was released later that month. Highway Boyz vol.1 featured Blue, a 5 Star Team recording artist, and new signed Artist Dee Krazy. This mixtape debuted their smash hit single "Ms.Poptart". On March 7, 2008, J-Rich released his highly downloaded EP The Freshest Prince. Mixtape contained smash hit singles "VA All Day", "Ms.Poptart", and "Crank Dat J-Rich". Later that month J-Rich released a new music video for "Im In The Spot". A music video that was promoting for his upcoming mixtape The Best Out 3. 3 more music videos was released for the mixtape such as, "Burning Sensation" that was a "Sexual Eruption" by Snoop Doggparody about STD's. Also released was "Ambitions As A Thug" and "Fresh Prince" that debuted artist from his new formed record label Fame Gang records.June 13, 2008, J-Rich released his 2nd highly downloaded mixtape in one year, "The Best Out 3". The night before the release Youtube.com released the World premier of the music video "A Homie Told Me" that won #28 most viewed video in one day. On July 30, 2008 J-Rich released Highway Boyz vol.2 that debuted all his artist from Fame Gang Records. The mixtape was the least promoted project and has now became the fastest downloaded and streamed J-Rich mixtape. Mixtape included artist Blue, Fatz, YoungStar, Gee (new in-house Fame Gang Producer), and Lil' Shadow. Unlike Highway Boyz vol.1, Vol.2 didn't feature Dee Krazy.
