Copyright problem: Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from either web sites or printed material. This article appears to be a copy from http://www.ctbuh.org/Home/tabid/53/Default.aspx, and therefore a copyright violation. The copyrighted text has been or will soon be deleted.
If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:
- If you have permission from the author leave a message explaining the details at Talk:Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat and send an email with confirmation of permission to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
- If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat with a link to where we can find that note.
- If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on Talk:Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat.
It may also be necessary for the text be modified to have an encyclopedic tone and to follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.

- I have responded to your note at the article's talk page. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 23:38, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
- I'm bringing this to your talk page, because that seems considerably easier than making a note there and letting you know here. :) I can restore the earlier version if that's what you'd prefer. However, I didn't mean to stop you at your work if you're trying to clean the article. It's been moved to a subpage so that we do not publish it while the copyright violation exists. As long as you stay within the Conflict of Interest guidelines, you can contribute to the article; we just have to ask you to follow those steps.
- I'm sorry that you're finding it so difficult to correct misinformation in the article. I promise you, that's not the point. We can't accept copyrighted material from other sources, even if you have permission, without verification of that because we do not require proof of identity to edit Wikipedia. It's necessary to protect us from lawsuits and to protect your company from any damages that might result from loss of control of that information. The COI guideline is in place primarily, as I said, to be sure that articles remain neutral and that material within them remains verifiable by our users. (That's why we can't allow original research.)
- Anyway, if you'd like to continue cleaning the article, you are welcome to do so at that subpage. But if you would prefer the earlier version restored, we can do that, too. Please, just let me know here. As I said, it's much easier than bouncing back and forth at the article's talk page. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 23:53, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
Hi Moonriddengirl - with all that in mind, i think it's best you revert the article back to '20:45, 17 August 2008 Leitmanp (Talk | contribs) (3,615 bytes) (Replaced copyrighted content form http://www.ctbuh.org to the version before all this was illegally added) (undo)' if that's possible. Many thanks for all your help.
- I have gone between the two, restoring some of the earlier text but incorporating some of your changes in an effort to include your updated information. I'm still watching your talk page and the article. Please let me know either at that talk page or here if the material there needs further revision. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 00:43, 19 August 2008 (UTC)
Hi again - many thanks for this - it's very much appreciated. I will probably go through and make a few small amendments over the next couple of days (i.e. changing height to structural top, to height to architectural top, etc - minor changes). However, i will be very careful to stay within the Conflict of Interest (and other) guidelines. Thanks again - and sorry for being a pain!
