Aubrey Morgan O'Day (born February 11, 1984 as Aubree Morgan O'Day) is an American singer, actress, songwriter, and member of the musical group Danity Kane.
Early life
Since performing on stage for the first time at age 5, O'Day has had a love for entertaining. "I lived on the stage, and even at six, slept behind the seats of the theatre," she stated in an interview. According to her mother, when O'Day was 6, she was at a performance of The Nutcracker and started to cry. Her mother asked her during intermission what was wrong; O'Day relates that moment as "officially" realizing her love for entertainment.[1]
O'Day pursued her love of performing through years with various leads in musical productions including Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, Carmen in Fame, Sandy in Grease, Liesl in The Sound of Music, Tzeitel in Fiddler on the Roof, Mimi in Rent, etc. O'Day attended La Quinta High School in the early 2000s. Aubrey O'Day later attended the University of California, Irvine and was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. O'Day left UCI to pursue a spot on Making the Band.
Career
O'Day was discovered on the MTV reality show Making the Band 3, founded by Diddy. Danity Kane's album debuted on August 22 2006, at #1 on the Billboard 200 charts. Danity Kane was the opening act for Christina Aguilera on the U.S. leg of her Back to Basics Tour with the Pussycat Dolls. She walked the catwalk at Heatherette's Fall 2007 runway show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week held on February 6.
O'Day recorded a song with R&B singer Cupid written and produced by D. Harold; Mischke, and T. Thomas , whose title is "Do Yo Dance" which is the new single from Cupid's album "Time For A Change," although she was later replaced on the album with another female singer.
In January 2008, O'Day briefly became the face of Famous Stars and Straps, and will appear in the comedy American High School in 2008. In addition, beginning on July 16th, 2008, O'Day will begin performances as Amber Von Tussle in the Broadway musical Hairspray.[2] Although she is currently performing in Broadway, she has stated on her official forums that she is still very much a dedicated member of Danity Kane.
She has recently started her own clothing line called Heart on My Sleeve, which features t-shirts and accessories only available online.
Personal life
In an interview in August 2008, O'Day stated she was "totally" irritated with people pigeonholing her sexuality; "...Because at this point in my life I wouldn't say one way or another what my preference is sexually. The only thing I'm looking for in life is incredible passion and honest love, and if that's with a girl, a guy, a guy that dresses like a girl, a girl that dresses like a guy, whatever the options are on the table, all I really operate on is the way I feel in my heart when it comes to love."[3] On The Wendy Williams Show on August 12, 2008, O'Day stated that she previously dated DJ Cassidy. She also refuted rumors of ever having plastic surgery.
