Rosa Rein (born 24 March, 1897) is, at age 111[1] the current oldest person in Switzerland since the September 3, 2006 death of 110-year-old Anna Ringier-Kieser, and as of June 20, 2008 their new longevity recordholder. Rein was born in Upper Silesia. A Jew,[2] her mother died in a German concentration camp and her family fled from Germany, first to Brazil, then to Genoa, and finally to Switzerland. Rein married twice, but has no children. She lived on her own until 2001, when, after a fall,[2] she decided to move to a nursing home in Lugano, where she currently still resides.[3]
