Hi, it is not usual to have redlinks on dab pages. Or maybe you were intending to create those articles? Please refer to Wikipedia:Manual of Style (disambiguation pages). Cheers, MSGJ 15:11, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Still working on it. See Wikipedia:Articles_for_creation/2008-09-10#New_redirect_request_3 )though someone already declined it, I see). Saintrain (talk) 15:58, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unicode minus and external tools

Please see my comments on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Geographical coordinates: Unicodifying minus signs by using MINUS SIGN instead of HYPHEN-MINUS will currently break most external geodata-processing tools, including, crucially, the map coordinates handling page -- can we please hold off on these changes until downstream data consumers have had time to update their tools?

Perhaps the creation of "ASCII-number" and "Unicode-number" parser functions that perform the obvious textual transformations their names imply might help this? -- The Anome (talk) 10:05, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding your comments on that talk page: Yes, I agree, this feels very much like "painting the wheel". Please don't take any of my comments as a criticism of you personally; I can see that you're just trying to stop things breaking, rather than pushing for incompatible changes. -- The Anome (talk) 07:27, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

DavidClock

Hi Saintrain.

Some time ago we discussed the UTC clock gadget at the Village Pump. I have now gotten around to update my version of the clock with the improvements suggested by Ilmari Karonen and others. It is now fully configurable to meet all needs. Due to it being fully configurable it is now more code, but it is more efficient than any of the other versions since it is only the very small inner "updateTime" function that runs on each tick.

I have not installed my version of the clock as the gadget yet, since I think some users should test it first.

You can copy my version of the clock from User:Davidgothberg/monobook.js and put it into your own monobook.js.

Note: There are several code snippets on my monobook.js page, be sure to copy the right part. Oh, and don't forget to configure the DavidClock to tick and show as you like. As you can see I have it set to only tick once every 5 minutes since I have a very slow computer and don't really need higher time resolution.

Thank you! I've never been asked to be a beta tester before! But I don't think I'll be using it. It's not the implementation, though. It's just that I didn't really use it when it was installed and didn't really miss it when it was gone. Just not a clock person, I guess. Don't even own a watch anymore. Saintrain (talk) 16:37, 17 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Haha, yeah, it can be nice to live ones life without a clock. I have done that during some times of my life. However I only use the UTC clock to compare things within Wikipedia, not for my real world time. For instance the UTC clock helps me know when it is time to reload the watchlist or some very active talk page I have open like the Village Pump. That is, since my version shows both a static clock and current time I can see if I have had a page open for a long time since last page reload.
Anyway, if you don't feel the need for it then you should of course not test it. See you around Wikipedia!

AfC redirects

Hi Saintrain, thanks for your input to the discussion we've been having.

I haven't put in a default section title yet but it seems to be working well enough for now. What do you think?

You don't think we need to bother archiving the old requests? What if someone comes back after a week and wants to find what happened to their request? MSGJ 09:39, 19 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Did you see my oppose at Wikipedia:Articles for creation/Redirects#Redirect request: Palmdale Boulevard? --NE2 00:07, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sure didn't. Sorry. Do what you want with it. Saintrain (talk) 14:11, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I would delete it if I were an admin - maybe you can tag it {{db-self}}? --NE2 14:54, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not disagreeing, but I'm not sure. It's part right, but OTOH how many Main Streets are also Route 66? It can always be un/done later. Still thinking. 66.214.189.209 (talk) 18:54, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
