Iowa State University, founded in 1858[1] as Iowa State College of Agricultural and Mechanical Arts, was selected as one of the American Society of Landscape Architect's Medallion Sites in 1999. The award reflects superior landscape architecture on the University's central campus, and is shared with two other American Universities: the University of Virginia and Yale University.
