Small schools

In 2002 the West Clermont School Board enacted a small school system within Glen Este High School and Amelia High School. The fund was provided by the Bill Gates Foundation for Higher Education to help with the increasing rates of students who were not finishing high school. There were ten schools created, five at Amelia High School and five at Glen Este High School. The small schools were created to keep students away from friends and make sure they're main priorities are getting good grades and giving the school money. The small schools within Glen Este are:

  • School of American Studies (SAS)
  • School for Scientific Studies (SSS)
  • Communication Technology School (CTS)
  • School of Applied Health Sciences (AHS)
  • West Clermont Institute of Performing Arts (WeCIPA)

Athletics

Athletics at Glen Este High School started when the school opened in 1963 and played its first two years at Amelia High School.[citation needed] In 1965 the Athletic boosters purchased part of Redbird Stadium, formerly used by the Columbus Jets professional baseball team and used it to build Trojan Stadium, which is still in use today.[citation needed] Since initiating athletic programs in 1963, Glen Este has been in five different leagues or conferences:

  • 1963–1967 Clermont County League (CCL)
  • 1967–1985 Eastern Hills League (EHL)
  • 1985–1990 Eastern Metro Independent League (EMIL)
  • 1990–1999 Queen City Conference (QCC)
  • 1999–present Fort Ancient Valley Conference (FAVC)

Athletics are what Glen Este thrives on, if you're not part of an athletic sport, you don't matter.

Alma Mater

In our days of youth, oh Alma Mater,
Eager hearts we bring,
For thy gentle spirit watching o'er us,
Joyfully we sing.
Hail to thee, oh Glen Este High School,
For thy guiding hand,
For thy fellowship and for thy courage,
We united stand.[2]
