Major Movie Star is an upcoming 2008 comedy film starring Jessica Simpson. Simpson plays the title role of Megan Valentine in the comedy, about a down-on-her-luck actress who enlists in the United States Army.[1] The current movie poster uses an image from Simpson's GQ cover. The movie is described as "similar" to Private Benjamin (1980), though many accuse it of being a remake. Filming started July 2007.[2]

Plot

When fluffy, bubble gum movie star Megan Valentine (Jessica Simpson) suddenly finds herself broke and humiliated in the public eye, she wanders from the wreckage of a car accident and witlessly enlists in the U.S. Army hoping in vain that it will change her life.

Promotion

Simpson went to Cannes to promote the movie, which will be released sometime in 2008. Jessica appeared on many talk shows and interviewed by many magazines to promote the film.

Release

According to IMDB.com, Major Movie Star was released in Russia on October 9, 2008 and will be released in Bulgaria on November 7, 2008. The U.S. release date is yet to be be announced. The movie opened #1 in Russia. [3]

DVD release

The film has been long awaited and it is yet to be confirmed if the film will be released theatrically or straight to video. According to IMDB the film is rated PG-13.
